“Great Value Three Night Winter Break”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

Just back from a three night winter Break stay (£119.50pp for DBB) at the Hogs Head Inn in Alnwick and can only say that the whole experience was a most pleasant and enjoyable one. From the moment we arrived the reception from the staff was most helpful and very welcoming. We did find that during our stay that the staff were all very pleasant, friendly and most helpful. The evening meal was excellent and with a very varied menu we were never lost on what to order. We had a large room which was very clean and tidy. If one had to be picky the breakfast could have included yogurts and on our first morning there was no marmalade. Also we took a carafe of white wine which soon became warm, we then had to take some ice to chill the wine, which is not really acceptable. But all in all a great value three night winter break, with plenty to do in and around Alnwick.

Thank you very much for the review and comments. We're delighted you enjoyed a great value stay with us and hope you return again. Breakfast is complimentary and is included within the room price, however I will feed back your comments about the yoghurt. Sorry about the marmalade - we hope you asked a member of staff and we're sure they would have been able to source you some..

We stayed in December and received a wonderful deal on bed, breakfast and dinner (any two courses from the main menu) for £42. The food and room were good and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We really felt like this place is great value for money and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

We stayed here on the winter break deal and were delighted with the whole experience. Bedrooms are a great size and very clean, the bed is huge and very comfortable. The evening meal was delicious, especially the pudding! Staff all very pleasant and helpful. Our only comment would be that the bar is a little pricey but on the whole the hotel was brilliant!

Thank you so much for your review and the five stars. All we would say is that our bar prices are in line with other pubs in the locality, but I will feedback your comments. Thank you!

Lovely clean welcoming and warm. Food very good, bar area very welcoming staff friendly. Currently have a deal with dinner bed and breakfast for 44.50 each . All meals from usual menu and not a 'reduced menu for those on the deal'

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are big and have bath with shower over. I believe upstairs have shower

I visited the Hogs Head back in February 2013 and was a little disappointed with the meals me and my partner received (Reviewed back in Feb 13). For Christmas 2013 a college was assigned to sort out the Christmas party, and chose the Hogs Head... I was a little apprehensive as my last visit the food wasn't up to scratch but it was booked and the wait was on!
The place itself is stunning and we were 'down' for the Christmas Menu. There were 3 options to choose from, from each section through starters to pudding. At a price of just under £16 per head.
The food that night was absolutely Fantastic, such a difference from my previous visit! All 10 of us didn't have one complaint over anything, from the food to the service we received. A well deserved 'hat's off' for all the staff that night and most defiantly the chef / chefs for such a wonderful meal. The standards that night was first class and hopefully still remain? Well done Hogs Head!!

The hotel address didn't come up on my sat nav, but it's about a mile out of Alnwick centre, near to Sainsburys.

Room was large with a super-king size bed, comfortable pillows, free Wi-Fi, (Premier Inn please note), huge car park and massive restaurant.

Sadly, no bath, and the shower room was tiny, but it's terrific value on the winter deal of bed, breakfast and evening meal.

Staff were lovely.

Thank you very much indeed for the review and five stars - please ask on booking if you would prefer a bath as opposed to a shower. We hope to welcome you again soon!
