“Good beer, good food and great welcome”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Had dinner here on Friday evening. The food was well prepared and presented. Good selection of beers too.

What made it a great experience was the genuinely friendly welcome and service. Enjoyed the evening very much.

“Good value meals”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

We went here on 2 occasions. The first night was on Saturday, had a local band playing, which were very good. Again on Friday. Both days we had meals which were very good. Don't let the scaffolding put you off. All staff very friendly.

“The landlord fleeces you with the drinks”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Good food, but what lets this pub down is the fact that the landlord under-measures spirits and charges nearly £3 for cordial and soda.

We've visited it twice now and on the second occasion I questioned why soda water cost the same as beer. His reply was that he gets taxed the same amount on both! Utter rubbish and is just plain dishonest.

What should be a reasonably priced meal will end up costing you £20+ with a couple of cheap soft drinks.

“Bike Tour of Borders”
Reviewed 13 May 2014 via mobile

Visited Alnwick on cycling trip to Edinburgh and The Fleece provided and delicious home made steak pie meal and excellent cask ale. The millionaire chocolate crunch dessert was worth the visit in itself. Friendly hospitality and cozy log fire. Would definitely come back for more.
