“Delightful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2012

Really lovely gardens, proper tea room and on the day we went there was even a village fete in progress with private areas of the gardens open. It takes some findings but that's good as you feel like you are a good way from the popular places. Personally i much prefer Howick to the nearby Alnwick Gardens. These are the real deal whereas Alnwick Gardens feels like a manufactured tourist attraction.

“Peaceful escape during school summer hols!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2012

As with so many of the places we visited during our holiday in Northumberland, we couldn't quite get over how few people were there, particularly for the time of year! The gardens are lovely, but don't go expecting them to be manicured to perfection, and we spent a good afternoon there wondering round, enjoying the peace and quiet. The tearoom is lovely, and the cakes were pretty special (as was the kipper pate). It would be fantastic if they could renovate inside the hall itself for visitors.

“Beautiful gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2012

Ling rambling walk with a good map and well marked routes. A good mixture of lovely formal gardens and Borders set in a huge arboretum. The river running through the garden and pond were highlights. Imposing setting in the tea room which just about justified the prices!

“Perhaps not the greatest garden”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2012

While there are interesting sections to this garden, the best part ifd not accessible to visitors except on special occasions, being the private garden attached to the part of the hall that is inhabited. However, after a visit to the Earl Grey tea rooms, all is forgiven.
