“Philly has a perfect touch... bliss!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2013

What an amazing two day break we've just had. Honestly, if we hadn't have needed to be back for work we would have taken advantage of the extra free night for sure!
This was a late booking for us, as we'd had to change our plans at the last minute. Philly was babysitting for her gorgeous granddaughter so had taken no bookings but she happily accommodated us at the eleventh hour. Everything was just perfect; wonderful hospitality without being intrusive, a lovely welcome with a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie (my first this year!), a sumptuously comfy room with a lovely bed, great quality bedding, and a spacious bathroom. We knew from the first moment that we had made the right choice! Philly is an absolute gem who couldn't do enough for us. We had choccies, cookies and my favourite "rosemary water" in the room. Breakfast was exceptional with amazing granola, the most amazing scented poached plums with cinnamon and star anise, and then cooked breakfasts on both days - we sampled scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, Craster kippers and locally sourced bacon, sausages.... I could go on!
This was truly the best B&B experience I've had (and we've had some great ones!)
You really can't go wrong by booking this amazing retreat.
Alnwick: only a few minutes drive or £5 in a taxi if you are going out at night and fancy a drink. We visited Hardy's Fishing Tackle Museum, the amazing Barter Books and some good independent shops. We had a decidedly average meal at Lilburns and a lovely casual experience at the Tapas bar. Can't wait for a return trip!

A welcome reception from Philly with mulled wine and a mince pie. Our room was well-equipped, spacious, with a great hospitality tray and very nicely decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept well. Philly was a mine of information on the local area and gave us a good recommendation for dinner in Alnwick, making the booking for us and letting us know about the late night Christmas shopping. I am sure we will be back, to the B&B, the holiday cottages and the Certified Location when we have a camper van.

Everything is pretty perfect here and there are no buts after that statement. The only down side was having to pack up and leave. The rooms were clean and comfortable with every amenity included. The hospitality tray was very generous including a piece of home made cake. Breakfast was perfect. My friend swore it was the best scrambled eggs he has ever had and the Craster kippers were huge and tasty. It is conveniently located. The owners recommended some excellent restaurants and were very helpful in planning our trips around Northumberland. The roaring fire every night was a really lovely touch. Redfoot deserves more than 'Excellent'! By the way, the photograph does not do the rooms justice!

Lovely spacious room, very clean, light and airy. Philly was a wonderful host, providing great information for eating out and attractions to see. The breakfasts were delightful, with a good variety for the cooked breakfast. The icing on the cake (so to speak) was the delicious home-made cakes that appeared every day in our room. Good location for visiting Northumberland. Highly recommend it to travelers.

We have just returned home from our first visit to Redfoot Lea and it won't be our last! From the moment we arrived, greeted with a glass of wine! to the moment we left, was a wonderful and enjoyable experience, pity we had to go out! But we had to and it's in a good location for sightseeing. Philly is a truly lovely hostess, nothing is too much trouble and everything is great, the rooms, the food (particularly the homemade cake!) and the service. Thank you and be seeing you again.....

Room Tip: Both bedrooms in the main house are excellent and the cottage is too, Philly very kindly showed us a...

We had too short a stay at this superb B&B, Philly was very warm & friendly and made us feel at home immediately. Our room was decorated beautifully and very comfortable, we also enjoyed the gorgeous cakes that were left everyday. We were delighted when Philly led us into their huge Lounge with the fire lit, making it oh so very cosy to sit down and enjoy a lovely glass of wine. Breakfast were excellent, fresh produce including Craster Kippers which were delicious! Redfoot Lea is located very conveniently for Alnwick and the wonderful coastline there. We would definitlly recommend Red Foot Lea and if possible stay longer than we were able! A return visit is a must.

We chose this bed and breakfast after reading so many good reviews- and found it every bit as amazing as it sounded on tripadvisor. Imaginative and tasty breakfasts, lovely rooms, friendly and thoughtful host who makes the most delicious cakes- what more could anyone want! Thank you, Philly, for looking after us so well- we look forward to our next stay.
