Had a lovely ground floor room overlooking the lake. Very new extension to the hotel, so room was lovely. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Could not fault. Only niggle, free wifi could be longer.

Stayed for 2 nights in this reasonably new hotel in a converted open cast coalmine (what was Woodburn Colliery). Breakfast was excellent as always in trhe Brewers Fayre restaurant next to the hotel The rooms are all standard Premier Inn. Free WiFi for 30 minutes but £3 per day is not too bad. I actually had the promised good night's sleep. Staff were nice, friendly and very helpful. It is a perfect location on a nice evening for a stroll around the lake and to feed the swans, unfortunately the paths were pure mud the nights we were there. £200 for 2 nights does seem expensive. I don't know why this is ?

My wife and I decided at fairly short notice to have a few days away and wanted to visit Lindisfarne and the north east coast up towards the border with Scotland. We found this hotel was friendly, clean and gave good service. A very enjoyable stay.

Stayed her on the way to Gretna. Checked in and staff very friendly. I had stayed here 10 years ago and was not overly impressed so wasn't sure what this would be like.

Got to my room and pleasantly surprised. Nice size, clean and nice bed with a bath and shower.

After a night out in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea back to my room. Slept like a baby. Lenny Henry was right.

Then breakfast. Waiters were very nice and helpful and the self service was good. Excellent choice and tasty. Nice to have the cooked breakfast cooked to order instead of buffet style.

I'll be staying her again...

Room Tip: With the sleep guarantee al rooms should be good. I had 123 which was good.

Stayed three nights in a disabled room. All facilities were excellent except the bath - normally they have a ~40cm long plinth behind the bath so that a disabled person can slide up the back of the bath onto the plinth. There was even long grab rail to help one do this, but one could only slide up and then fall on the floor! So I could not bath. Heating system seemed to blow cold from time to time. Sweetener for tea/coffee was not the one recommended for diabetics (sucralose). Only one hand towel for a double room is inadequate (there were two bath towels, but could not use bath - as above).

Room Tip: If disabled, check whether bath has a plinth at back to aid getting in and out

This Premier Inn seems brand new, or else it is newly refurbished. Either way, it was very up-together and all of the facilities were very good.
There is a large lake on the edge of the car park, probably a flooded quarry, which has a large variety of waterfowl including 30+ swans.
Lots of people turned up in the early evening for the meal deal in the adjoining restaurant. We ate there and it was good value and acceptable food for the price paid. There is a food theme each night. Monday was a Mexican buffet and we had a good dinner.
Two minutes later we were back in the room to enjoy the room and get a good night's rest.
Certainly one of the better Premier Inns.
