Owner description: The King of Castles, a fortification has dominated this site since Anglo-Saxon times when it was the capital of the kingdom of Northumbria. The current structure with Keep, curtain walls, towers and ramparts dates from the 1500's to the Victorian restructuring of Lord Armstrong. There are fourteen rooms open to the public including the spectacular Kings Hall, with over 3000 items of artwork, furniture, china and porcelain. The separate Armstrong and Aviation Artifacts museum gives visitors a glimpse into the creativity and industrial genius of Lord Armstrong. With a look at the aviation legacy created by his company after his death.Cafeteria with great, fresh food and wander around the battlements complete a great day ou.

“Castlewalk”

Good value for money.Unlike some castles, there was a good number of rooms to view with interest. Approaching from Front Street, the place is quite eerie at night.Apart from the Castle, there is not much going on in the area. There are a couple of gastro pubs, thats about it.

“Real history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

Bamburgh Castle has great parking and is a huge castle. We spent a few hours there as there is a lot of rooms to see which are full of items and display cases. There have a room full of ancient games that you can try out and it is in a beautiful setting. As it sits right at the beach, when it closed we went down to the shore which was great. It has good sized gift shop and tea room. Really enjoyed wandering around seeing all the history and the way it has been used over the years. Extremely friendly staff and we had reduced entry fee as members of Historic Scotland.

“One of my favourite castles”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

This is one of my favourite castles int he country, with a history going back to Saxon times. There is a lot to see, as it was tastefully restored by the 1st Lord Armstrong. The views from the castle walls a great too, especially out to the Farne Islands. A visit is also nicely broken up by a stop at the tea rooms too!

“Better from outside than in”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

A magnificent landmark from north and south. This majestic castle stands brave and proud on the beautiful Northumberland coast with wonderful sandy beaches on both sides. The inside has been much adapted and changed in recent years so it is harder to really get a feel of how life must have been in previous eras but there still remains many original features including the wood-lined gallery. After your visit, descend onto the beach, look upwards and let your imagination soar. Then enjoy a brisk one-hour walk along the sands back to Seahouses.

“An amazing visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

There's so much to see and do, I was surprised at having spent over 4 hours there. The view is incredible, the castle amazing, the inside rooms are worth the entrance fee, in fact I would have paid MORE for the great time we had. Cafe is lovely, all the staff so friendly and pleasant. Finish the day with some fish n chips in Seahouses just 5 mins drive away. Great value, great visit, can't recommend enough.
