Bit of a walk to reach, but great unspoilt beach and dunes. Nothing for miles so bring everything that you need.

So isolated you have to walk a mile or so across a farm and sand dunes to get to (it's a flat and easy walk). When you get there the beach is incredible - Holy Island Castle is to your left and Bamburgh Castle to your right. As it is remote there are hardly any people there. The perfect place to propose, as I did (she said yes)!

There are stories of how it attracts nudists, and maybe it does because it is so isolated, but the beach is expansive you could still have half of it to yourself away from them.

One of the best beaches I have ever been to, and a must-see. Enjoy.

Words cannot express the beauty of this beach. A fair walk from car park (take water) but worth the effort. take a picnic into the dunes for shelter from on shore breeze. Don't forget to stop for fresh Lindisfarne oysters at Ross Farm - delicious

It's a long walk to get there from the farm to the beach. But when you get there what a place. It's one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. No facilities. Apparently frequented by nudists but even if the day had been warmer there is so much room.

As a previous reviewer noted, this secluded beach is not easy to find. But it's worth it. South of Holy Island find 'Ross' on the map and park where indicated - this is a working farm and it is all too easy to obstruct farm vehicles. Be considerate!
The footpath to the beach is flat and easy going - for a bit over a mile. The last part over the dunes is definitely not suitable for wheelchair users!
On reaching the beach you are confronted by a breathtaking vista - miles of clean hard sand, backed by dunes, with water at each end. Look south to Bamburgh Castle - north to the much smaller Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island.
The beach has no services whatever - no lifeguards, no shops, no toilets - so go prepared.
This part of the beach is very flat and bathing is relatively safe - but watch out for jellyfish in summertime! Walk any distance in either direction, and bathing becomes anything but safe - rip tides, quicksands - take your pick. Be warned.
The best walk is north towards Holy Island. For most of the year you can walk all the way to Holy Island sound, but be aware that the northern part is closed in spring - this is the nesting area for several rare birds who do not like visitors! At the northern limit of the beach stay on dry sand - there are quicksands and shouting for help is futile.
This is a truly beautiful place, and I go there often. Stand in the centre of the beach - feel the breeze on your skin - hear nothing but the wind, the sea and the seabirds. Feel the solitude. The prefect antidote to a busy week at the office.
