My husband and I stayed at the Lord Crewe in April 2014..We booked two nights on a recommendation from a relative. The hotel is more of a pub/restaurant with rooms above. When we arrived there was no parking so had to park on a side street. We entered the pub side and had a hearty welcome by lovely staff, pub light and airy with fab decor and our first impressions were good. Had a lovely sunday roast lunch, veg lovely and crisp and beautifully presented. We were shown to our room and immediately disappointed. The room was pokey and dull with not even a picture on the wall. Decoration a bit tired and dark. Our bathroom if you could call it that was tiny with a pathetic sink that you couldn't even clean your teeth in because it was so small and the tap stuck over it so you couldn't wash your face..toothpaste ended up on your feet! Saying that the shower was fantastic and hot water endless. Our bed throw was dirty with stains on and that upset us both so we took it off and the sheets were clean underneath. Bed was comfy. No reading light to read when one of you wants to sleep and the other read. Dinner in the restaurant was wonderful the food perfect as was breakfast. Told housekeeping about the throw and they apologised and offered to replace it which we declined as preferred just clean sheets. Mentioned the sink and the staff were aware that the sink was useless but didn't offer to change our room. I can't fault the staff as they were so lovely but I wouldn't recommend staying here due to the room...When I booked I was told you either had a room with a shower or a bath..I prefer a bath and my hubby a shower..so I booked the shower then I was told by a member of staff the baths have showers over them..so again was disappointed. You don't want to be out walking then not be able to wash your face or clean your teeth properly and then lie in a dull lifeless room....This could be a fab place with a little extra thought to the rooms.

Room Tip: Don't book room 2. Another couple we met had a room over the bar which was better than ours.

Stopped in for a late lunch here at the Wynding Inn. Chose it because it looked a lot smarter from the outside than any of the other pubs in the village. We weren`t disappointed. Really well finished and we ordered the cod and chips on the recommendation of another customer. Truly massive plates of food duly arrived and were eventually demolished. Excellent! Didn`t have to eat for the rest of the day. We`ll go back when we`re next in the area.

We stayed at the Lord Crewe for one night on their ‘Dinner, bed and breakfast for £90’ off-season deal.

We were made very welcome from the start by the receptionist, Yvonne.

Our room, Room 4, was large, modern and clean.

The visit got off to a slightly shaky start when the fire alarm went off; fortunately it was only a fault. Then we found out that the central heating in the room did not work. On informing Yvonne, we were immediately moved to another room: the Wynding – a superior and much larger room. So ‘it was an ill wind…’

For dinner, we both had the goat’s cheese starter and Supreme of Chicken main course (included in the £90) - all delicious. I finished the meal with a slice of lemon torte and my wife, the mint tart.

We both broke our diet and had the full English breakfast – large and well cooked.

The hotel has recently been reduced from nineteen rooms to nine to make way for four holiday lets. We believe it is also up for sale, so enjoy it while you can.

A very enjoyable stay.

This is our second visit to the Lord Crewe, and once again it didn't disappoint. We travelled as a couple on a wet & windy Thursday morning. Arriving mid-morning we were so pleased our room was ready, so we could change into more sturdy walk attire, as it was pouring down, but hey-ho!! After a long, wind blown walk we enjoyed a drink in the bar and chatted to the friendly bar staff. Our evening meal was lovely, venison terrine for him & salmon fishcakes for me, lovely. Our steaks (£4 extra on the DBB of £99) were cooked to perfection, washed down with a lovely, reasonable bottle of red. Our room was comfortable, tv, tea/coffee facilties & a power shower to die for!!!. Breakfast next morning was lovely, full english, so much nicer when you don't have to cook it yourself!! Would I recommend, yes, will we return, yes again

Room Tip: If you are prepared to pay more, you can request a room of the castle, but all the rooms are lovely.

We had walked fro Seahouses to Bambugh and were having a walk around . Saw this place and thought we would enquire about accommodation for a future visit. We walked in to be greeted by a lady who was very miserable and unhelpful. We asked about the tariffs etc , she just pointed to some leaflets about the place,we could find prices online..no conversation or interest whatsoever.
We chucked the leaflet away and vowed we would never stay here if that wss there attitude..
Had a look at there tarriffs... Ha i dont think so...plenty of competition out there so get your front of house in order... its not the busiest town in the world afterall

This was just a fairly local 'get-away-from-the-builders' break for one night, booked on a whim a couple of days previously. We arrived very early in the afternoon but the room was ready and we were invited to take possession. Room was lovely and warm, very clean and well decorated, and had everything we needed for our short stay. The en-suite was up to scratch but the steps up to it caught me out in the middle of the night. Ouch! The bed was very comfortable and the sleep was excellent. Meals and service were very good, although the menu choices could have been more. An excellent Full English was enjoyed. Good quality local ingredients, carefully cooked and presented. The staff was friendly and helpful at every level, from reception to restaurant. If you were looking for a base for touring this part of Northumberland, you wouldn't go wrong here. My acid test is, would I go back - Yes!
