Went with husband and son to try new menu and was very pleasantly surprised over last time we ate there. The food was fantastic, all flavoursome, and very decent portions. I would describe it as local food with a twist. For starters we had smoked chicken and roast pepper filo tartlet - very tasty, carrot and coriander soup - fresh and delicious, and cray fish and smoked salmon - mouth waveringly good. For mains, my son had the fish in trempura batter - gorgeous, huge chunks of Hake, Salmon and monk fish. Hubbie had venison wellington - melt in your mouth, and I had trio of meats - all delicious. The sweet potato chips were divine! Look forward to coming back, and also trying out their new high tea room which sounds like fun!

Room Tip: The hotel has been beautifully refurbished - this picture is very old - don't be fooled - gorgeous.

Room a tad small but breakfast made up for it! I love proper bone in meaty kippers for breakfast and that's what i got here! None of those awful cook in the bag kippers that so many hotels serve up! They seem to be doing refurbishments and staying open so some noise but hopefully they will be finished soon...style is nice ....seasidey! Hopefully the rooms will be refurbished in similar style.

Room Tip: No point in asking for a good deal...they won't reduce! We were looking at 5 pm having decided that we would like to see the sunset...but they wouldn't reduce the price of the room apparently they would rather leave it empty rather than reduce...so attitude was take it or leave it!

Stayed here recently. Had a nice room, although bathroom had some mould around the shower area. Had dinner in the hotel, but I wasn't very impressed. Had lamb cutlets, all very dry and the vegetables were hard. Breakfast was poor with regards to the fruit, only prunes and grapefruit! There was also cereal. The cooked breakfast was ok. Not sure if I would stay here again, I would probably look for somewhere else.

We haven't been since it changed hands, but can only say that over the last few years we always enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect for exploring the beautiful countryside and coast. The hotel is small and cozy, and the staff were always friendly and helpful (and happy!) We didn't eat in much in the evenings, but the breakfasts were worth the trip alone - try the kippers and you'll never eat them anywhere else! My only worry is that if the word gets around we will find it fully booked next time we want to stay.

We had a meal her whilst staying in the town. It was tip top! 4 diners with different choices all delighted by their meal. The house wine was good and a reasonable price. The meal was unhurried and well served. We would recommend it and will return in the future.
