Clean, bright & fresh. Newly decorated and well appointed rooms. Nice view and plenty of space. Crisp bedding and comfy bed. Good reception on tv and free wifi. Would have liked blinds as well as drapes because the room got very light early in the morning. Very quiet and no disturbances. Large, clean bathroom which could only be improved with the addition of a bath. (enough room!) Breakfast was good, good service and no waiting. Easy parking.
Nice base for exploring.

Dear Venus67,

Many thanks for taking the time to review our hotel. We like to take on board all our customers feedback and answer any questions directly. I take on board the fact a Bath to a lot of our rooms would be a huge added bonus. We have two problems in doing it, we simply don't have the space to store sufficient water to fill 21 baths and secondly, we simply could not afford the increases in insurance by having baths in the hotel. Therefore we made the decision some years ago to remove them all. We are currently in the process of putting up black out blinds in all our rooms with an exception of room 3 and 5 as the windows open inwards blinds are impossible to fit. I'm afraid being a man this was a complete oversight on my behalf when I designed the rooms. Next time I learnt!!

I'm pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We class ourselves as a family run business with good customer services and excellent staff. This has yet again been proven with a great review

Please keep an eye out for future deals direct on our web page.

regards

Paul

We visited the area and stayed at the B&B over the last weekend in March. The Sunningdale is a lovely place, I think it has recently been renovated as the whole place appeared very fresh and modern. The room was lovely with all the facilities you would want and the breakfast was lovely. They also cater for evening meals however we never partook. The main plus point for us was that dogs are allowed to stay. We have a large dalmatian and we were made to feel very welcome. The room was also the perfect size to accommodate us and our very large dog bed. Overall a great place to stay, especially if you are taking your dog.

We stayed here as part of a Groupon deal.

Overall we had a really good experience here. The staff were efficient, warm and friendly. When we arrived the entrance was being redecorated, but such things have to be done. We were too early to check in so headed off to the Castle Inn down the road to watch the Rugby. On return we were quickly checked in, and taken up to our room, number 8, on the first floor at the front of the building.

This room had been redecorated too. You could easily sit in the bay window and enjoy the view down into the village and the sea beyond. The bed was a good size, comfortable and with nice clean white sheets. The en suite was a good size, it only had a shower but this was fine for us. Water was hot, although the pressure was a little low, and the towels were clean and good quality.

At first the TV reception was a bit poor on the flat screen wall mounted TV, but I think it may have been a bit of a poor connection as a bit of fiddling seemed to sort the problem out.

Another good point was the fact that the power sockets and the vanity mirror were placed so that you could actually use the hair dryer etc, in front of the mirror. A fact that a few chain hotels seem to miss.

The hotel restaurant was a pleasant surprise and the meal we had that night was very good Breakfast was just as nice and it was nice to have Bamburgh bangers from the butchers down the street on the menu.

I would say this is a very good small hotel for a long weekend stay. It has a small car park along one side of the building which will be a godsend in the busy summer months as parking in the village itself can be difficult due to its popularity.

Dear Farawaylad01,

Many thanks for taking the time to write such a wonderful review and giving our hotel such praise. We work hard as a team to achieve and maintain our high standards. As you've stated our hotel seems like the fourth road bridge at times as it requires continual decoration, hence the lobby and staircases getting redecorated. We monitor closely all of our customers comments and the repeated comment that was mentioned was plug sockets in easy accessible areas. We have hopefully overcome this problem now in most of our rooms. I checked the reception on the TV in room 8 and found that the cable was snapped. A quick 30 second repair.

Many Thanks again for your kind comments.

Please keep and eye out for our Autumn and winter special breaks.

Regards

Paul

We really appreciated the comfortable beds and slept really well at the Sunningdale. The food was tremendous, with great choice, good specials, and enormous portions. Every meal came out of the kitchen beautifully presented - altogether very imaginative accompaniments for both mans and desserts. Wifi didn't work throughout our stay, but we're told this is temporary. Rooms are relatively small, and walks are thin. We were disturbed to see dogs under tables in the dining area, or being taken through the dining area to the lounge. Otherwise, top marks!

Room Tip: Ask for a castle view!

Dear Olderromantic,

Many thanks for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. I'm very sorry to find that the internet was not working during your stay, I believe this to be a connection error between your apple ipad and our BT server. We've had this problem before and had numerous discussion with BT to correct it. I wish I had known about it earlier so I could have rectified your problem. To correct further internet problems we've just installed two new telephone lines with up to date BT routers. Hopefully this should correct any further problems.

Its been a pleasure to have the Walking Women stay with us for the last few days. The groups have been stopping here now for perhaps seven years, three times a year. The feedback we receive is always good and many of the group comment that its the best stay the walking women offer.

I was very pleased to read your lovely comments and I'll pass those onto all the staff.

Regards

Paul

Spent one night here on a groupon deal and for the money we paid it was excellent value. Met at reception by a very friendly lady who showed us to Room No 4 which is right at the very top of hotel. Clean enough, fairly basic room - however there was an enormous cobweb in corner of bathroom - not sure how they could have missed it! The shower door did not close properly which meant the floor got very wet & light above bathroom mirror didnt work. We were going to report these in the morning but gentleman on reception was on telephone when we left so didnt get chance to speak to anyone. Breakfast was ok, usual full English - would have been lovely to have a choice such as kippers but just nit picking a bit here.

Dear Terihawick,

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. We use tripadvisor as a monitoring tool to correct problems that customers find within the hotel. I just wished you had of waited and spoke to me directly. I'm disappointed that you found a cobweb in your room. Our staff take a great deal of pride in keeping the hotel maintained to a high standard. This has been reported back to our housekeeping staff. I'm sorry but I was unable to find fault with the shower door. As for your breakfast. We do offer a wide selection of breakfast that includes fresh seahouses Kippers, fresh baked pastries, and a full English breakfast and many other items however, we are unable to offer this to guests that are paying only £22 for 2 people to stay with us. The groupon deal was used to hopefully invite more local people to stay within Northumberland at a reasonable price. Therefore to offer such a wonderful deal we had to alter what we offer and the breakfast was one of the cost savings we had to make.

Should you wish to discuss your review in greater depth please contact me directly at the hotel.

Regards

Paul

We stayed here using a groupon offer. The hotel was excellent value for money, very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was included and this was more than adequate. You could help yourself to cereal and drinks as well as yoghurts, fresh fruit and toast. A cooked breakfast was served to you by a friendly waitress. Indeed all of the staff were very friendly and welcoming although some needed a little additional training. We had a meal on one evening of our stay and this was of a high standard, better than another more expensive place close by. The lounge area was right next to the kitchen and you could hear all of the staff conversations, which was a little disconcerting. All food came through the lounge area so this wasn't really a relaxing experience. Bamburgh itself is a lovely little place. The castle is very imposing and is worth a visit, the coastline can't be beaten.

Hi Valerie,

Many thanks for taking the time to write a positive review. We are currently planning to refurbish our lounge area, this includes putting a partition wall between the kitchen and the lounge area. we are also planning small snug like areas to provide quieter areas for our guests to relax. We are also planning a log burning stove to provide a better atmosphere. I'm disappointed to see that you feel our staff require some further training. We do have some new staff but all have had a high level of training. If you'd care to email me directly and tell me your concerns so I'm able to address the training issue. On a positive note I'm pleased to see that you enjoyed our restaurant. We provide food to a high standard at a competitive price. All our staff work hard to give our customers the best possible experience whilst staying with us.

Once again, many thanks for taking the time to write a review. Keep an eye out for our autumn and winter offers direct on our website.

Sadly only stayed 1 night at this charming hotel. Everything was immaculate and the staff friendly. Ate in the restaurant and this was high class. The breakfast is well presented and cooked to order if a full English is required. Fresh coffee is always welcome rather than out of a machine which many use today. Would love to return and probably will next time we are in the area. Beautiful appointed room and large shower room, flat screen TV, comfortable bed. What more can anyone ask!
