Lovely 5 star accommodation well situated in Bamburgh. Stunning kitchen / diner / living area with all mod cons . Bedrooms all small but en suite. Log burner in living area but no logs supplied ( though available at local shop. ) outside area enclosed and would be good in the Summer for a bbq. Hope to return some day .
Firstly this review is not a reflection of the owner who has been exceptionally helpful. Review relates to the poor customer experience delivered from Grace Darling Properties who are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the property. The property had a number of dirty plates, frying pan, stains on seats and stains on bedding. There was no oven glove provided. There was also beading hanging of some of the doors. I reported this to Grace Darling holidays who advise they did not receive the complaint and even if they did they could not deal with it as they are not responsible for the initial booking of the property. I have advised owner directly of my experience and would like to make sure that future guests ensure that Grace Darling Holidays provide a better level of cleaning services as my experience suggested that they carried out a quick clean rather than a deep clean.
The barn is excellent accommodation. Nice and modern, thoughtfully decorated and clean. It's really well located for everything in Bamburgh with excellent views of the castle. It was larger than we expected too. The fact it's gated makes it super safe for young children. It was a great base for our hols and we were pleased with our choice. We all had a fab holiday - boat trip to the Farne islands, Holy island, Bamburgh beach & castle, catching crabs and letting them go, Grace Darling museum, Alnwick castle and Cragside House. We'd definitely recommend to others. The week went far too quickly! Thanks Toby.
We booked our stay at the Barn 11 months ago and feared that we might be disappointed when we finally arrived, boy were we wrong, the place is fantastic. From the moment we walked in we felt at home, everything about the Barn just felt right, from the cool decor to the comfy sofas and beds, the stylish en-suite bathrooms and contemporary kitchen/dining design, it was all of the highest spec. Three big bedrooms, loads of space to relax when you aren't outside discovering the beautiful coast and a stunning view of Bamburgh Castle from the three double patio doors in the lounge, amazing. The Barn is in the heart of the village, a stones throw from some great pubs/restaurants which serve very good food and beer as well as a tea room, butcher, cafe with superb ice cream and a host of other shops. There are plenty of local sights to visit, Holy Island, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, boat trips to the Farne Islands and of course Bamburgh Beach and Castle which is magnificent. We loved our stay here, we had never visited the Northumberland Coast before and now we never want to leave. We will definitely return here and when we do we will definitely stay at the Bamburgh Barn again.
Beautiful house, delightfully furnished and with the most perfect view of the castle both day and night. Bamburgh beach is three minutes walk across the green, with a small kids playground en route. The beach is safe for surfing and body boarding, but is not lifeguarded.
There are miles of beautiful sandy beaches to walk, Bamburgh castle is worth a visit, we had an excellent pizza at the Apple Core in Lucker and there are plenty of seals to see off the Farne Islands (personally I wouldn't bother stopping on the islands at this time of year as all the puffins are at sea or have flown north already, but it would be amazing in May / June time if they were still there).
All in all an amazing place to visit.
