“The Ducket - A special place to stay”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

This was a special treat as a 60th birthday is due this year and what a treat! The Ducket has been lovingly restored and the attention to detail is exceptional - we wanted for nothing! To return after a day sightseeing to the tranquillity of The Ducket was a joy - it was like coming 'home' each day. The 5 floors keep one fit, and the stunning views from each window are some of the best.
The walk to Ross sands was well worth the jewel at the end - expansive beach with hardly a soul on it, with Lindisfarne at one end and Bamburgh castle at the other.
A relaxing, enjoyable week in the 'tower'......we shall return........
Thank you.

This was a wonderful cottage in a fantastic location. Beautiful scenery, quiet and peaceful but not too far off the beaten track in the car. It was lovely to see the wildlife from the private garden. We would love to come again.

We have just returned from a week spent in Wagtail Cottage at Ross .
The cottage was beautiful, with top quality appliances, soft furnishings, spacious rooms, huge soft fluffy towels. We loved the large walk in shower, and the pretty garden with its private outlook over a little field full of cows. Every detail in the cottage had been carefully and thoughtfully provided. It was very well equipped, down to the tea strainer! We loved the location with easy 20 minute walk to Ross Back Sands, one of Northumberland's best kept secret beaches. We got a friendly warm welcome from David the caretaker and also met John the owner. He has recently installed a biomass boiler for the cottages to make the whole operation more environmentally friendly. We were very impressed with the upkeep of the gardens and the attention to detail.
The bed was very comfortable and the cottage was immaculately clean and we would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for luxury accomodation in this beautiful area.

Room Tip: We chose Wagtail cottage as it is a little more private than the others on site, but the 2 Coastgua...

We had another fantastic holiday at Outchester and Ross Cottages. This time we stayed at Ross Cottages so we could experience the lovely beach. The location was perfect and parking was excellent for our motorcycles.

The accommodation had everything you needed, it was great having a dishwasher which we used this time. We borrowed a telescope which is available to guests if you request it when you book, but the nights were too light to see the stars but it is worth it.

The garden was lovely and we had a fantastic relaxing week with friends in glorious weather. This really is a lovely place to stay and walking to the beach is a real pleasure and as you emerge from the sand dunes and see the views, it blows you away. Beware the beach can get busy, it had 2 other people when we went one day. :-)

Another wonderful holiday at Outchester. So good we keep coming back for more - fabulous accomodation as always and helpful friendly greeting from David when we arrived. Visited beaches, castles and gardens and dined out on fine cuisine. What more could you ask for? Thank you to all concerned.

Our first visit to this part of the country and we were not disappointed. The cottage was delightful. We didn't want for anything. Friendly welcome. Would recommend either of the Coastguard Cottages or Lodge. Amazing location.
