We stayed here for 1 night before the Great North Run, booked 1 week before the run, great value for £55/night (excluding breakfast). Breakfast was available in the all day cafe, We ate in the restaurant when we arrived, good choice of food. All staff really friendly and helpful.

Room was a good size, bathroom was modern. Bed wasn't very comfy and the corridor along to accommodation could be updated to match the main entrance and restaurant.

Located on the A1, 40min drive away from newcastle, good location and cheaper then city centre accomodation.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back over looking the fields for a peaceful nights sleep.

We recently called into the cafe at around 930pm on our way down to Bamburgh from Glasgow. As it was late and based upon recommendations from my parents whose caravan we were staying at, we called in for a late supper. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and my fiancé ordered the lamb hotpot. The cafe was a little dirty with 5 tables all with dishes on that needed cleaning whilst the cafe was empty, but we could forgive this probably coming off a busy Friday night service.

The "curry" when it arrived was complete with rice, chips and naan as described, however, had it also included the description of chicken scraps, and remnants covered with Indian spices, I don't think I'd have been so keen to order, it was vile and inedible.

My partners hotpot looked a little more promising until she actually bit into the "lamb" which materialised to be more like fat with lamb remnants.

We left after about 5 mouthfuls finding ourselves dismayed, bewildered and quite frankly too tired to complain.

What I didn't like: Not much to be fair! The cafe was in a poor state with tables that needed clearing, dishes stacked up, food on the floor etc. and it wasn't busy. In terms of value, I reckoned the rooms were probably about £20 a night overpriced...
The cups in the rooms still had remnants of the previous occupants in them!

What I did like: Staff were helpful, rooms (apart from cups) were clean. Free wifi. Bar was nice, with a good choice on the menu. Sky Sports on the TV - which was not over-powering.
Great location.

In summary, pay the extra couple of quid and use the bar instead of the cafe.
Both are open to the public, both use the same kitchen, but the bar ambience is better!

When we booked for the price we did, we did not expect 4* frills: we did expect clean serviceable accommodation and reasonable value for money.
The staff were friendly and the room was clean. However, upon arrival we were expected to pull out and make up the fold-out bed for our young child. When I queried this, I was told to find the bedding in the cupboard and given verbal instructions on how to pull out the bed!
The accommodation cost at £67 did not include breakfast, which was as expected. However, we were charged £30 exactly for 2 English breakfasts, one child's cereal and a child's single sausage and scrambled egg. When I queried this, I was told there was no price break-down but that we were charged for what we had. This was not reasonable. We ended up paying the same price for adequate accommodation as we had paid in previous days on late-rooms for 5* star hotels. Furthermore, 5* hotels set extra beds up for you before you check in.
Before booking beware of hidden costs and hidden jobs!

Room Tip: All rooms seem to have pleasant views of fields. Beware that the family room for up to four relies o...

We stayed one night & the receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. The room & bathroom were a little outdated but on the whole for the money we paid we were satisfied as it was clean & the bed was comfortable.

Conveniently placed right beside the A1 yet bedrooms are peaceful and overlook wonderful country views to the coast and Bamburgh Castle. Clean, comfortable and plenty of hot water plus a good restaurant, a huge car park, a shop, cashpoint, fuel and an all night cafe selling decent food!

Room Tip: Peaceful and comfy rooms with lovely views.
