"Arnies Army" are a group of 15 golfing friends and some partners from all over the country who get together once a year to Golf and meet up.This is our 4th stay with David & Shirley and we rate them as top notch! Breakfast is superb, cooked to order and piping hot.Eggs poached scrambled boiled or fried you get them nothing is a problem.
Accommodation itself is Central and whilst you have to use the Council Car park david will tell you very quickly how to get best value and no parking ticket.
We have always found the B & B to be warm and clean and an excellent base and will return again to what we consider an excellant value for money guest house.
David goes out of his way to be helpful and to talk up the local area. If you wanr info you get it if you dont just let him know he will not be offended.

Stayed a total of three nights on two separate occasions. Lucky to find last minute accommodation. David very helpful and knowledgeable about local restaurants, trains and sights - even helped with a mud-map. Council car parking only but took David's advice and saved money. Breakfast excellent and cooked to order.

we arrived a party of 10 golfers requiring a maximum of 2 in a room which we got all en-suite. 2 of the rooms were family rooms which could of accommodated 3 or 4 persons in each and we were only charged the same as a room with 2 beds in. All the rooms were of a large size, bigger than your normal b&b and very clean & comfortable. The breakfasts were hearty and enough to keep us going all day playing golf without need for food until the evening. Not one of our party had any complaints or criticism to make about our stay.It also has a good central location everything within a short walk. We will be back again

This large B&B is in an excellent location right in the middle of Berwick. However, there was a very depressing air about it. Plastic flowers a-plenty all with a fine layer of dust. Lots of orange walls and swirly carpets. The breakfast was indifferent, except for the poached eggs which were fantastic! The staff were friendly and helpful. The owner was a bit too friendly and actually sat down with us in the dining room while we were trying to eat our breakfast, which we found a bit intrusive. We would never stay here again. The only thing to recommend it is the low price.

First of all we would like to thank our Client for posting this Review.
We cannot however hide our disappointment at the contents contained therein. it appears that there was a "very depressing air" about the place.
I am at a loss to understand exactly what is meant by that remark as 95% of our clients compliment the "Town House" regarding the service provided, along with "what we consider to be useful" information about the attractions and Historic Places to visit nearby.

I apologies profusely if I spoiled their Breakfast by sitting down with our clients as they claim, I'm afraid I cannot remember exactly what happened but I would NEVER sit at the table they were eating Breakfast at, I may have sat at an adjoining table and been offering information, once again I am extremely sorry for doing so.
Let me now turn to the Decor which is a Personal Preference and one cannot please every one of the Clients who visit us, all the passageways are coloured Terrocotta and NOT orange, all of our Carpets throughout the Town House are indeed self Coloured with the Dining Room, Bedrooms and all the Hall/Passageways being "self Coloured" ie. PLAIN, so I'm afraid I'm at a loss to find where the description "swirly carpets" comes from.

I could go on and on but would ask any client who is thinking about visiting the Elizabethan Town House to check out all our reviews and suffice it to say that we are reasonably confident that if they do so they will see just how much we CARE for our Clients comfort and satisfaction.

For the second time this summer, I went from Oslo, Norway, to stay a week at this lovely B&B, nicely situated in the central parts of Berwick. First time with my husband, this time with a girlfriend who would like to experience some of the nice places in this area that I had been talking about. The hotel is perfect for both footpeddlers and carholders - not far from trains or buses or shops, and the nice people at the hotel makes you feel at home and take good care of you. The owner, David, with all his local knowledge, are very kind and helpful with all of your practical problems and can give you good advises about the town and other places of interest.
The area is ideal for exercise and sports as golf, fishing, walking and bathing in the sea. At the coast of Spittal in Tweedmouth, at the other side of the river, there are also activities for children and you can buy something to eat or drink at the Promenade. There, at the beach, you can watch in the distance, the silhouettes of the castles of Lindisfarne and Bamburgh, and take stroll along the coast - very relaxing. I highly recommend this B&B and the town.

Room Tip: Ask David for a room at the second floor.

We only stayed one night in the Elizabethan Town House but without the help of Dave we would have been lost... literally! He had photocopied a road map for us showing the way to Hadrian's Wall and with that help we were on our way. Breakfast was very nice, the bedrooms were very clean and the service was amazing. Thank you both! Yours Dennis and Kim (The Netherlands)
