“Perfect luxury retreat close to the stunning NE coast and the quirky shopping treats of Berwick itself”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2011

Spent three self indulgent days in coldest February with friends on the North East coast with West Longridge Manor as our base. Fantastic attention to detail in the place - we cooked in the very well equipped kitchen and didn't need any of the extra utensils etc that we had packed just in case.
It was hard to choose the best bedroom when we arrived ( always that thing of getting there first and there being a 'best room') We were welcomed with the scent of freshly baked scones and roaring fires and were thoroughly entertained by Robert and his stories of the farm and his advice on where we should spend our time. The place was so cosy and welcoming it was hard to drag outselves out at all.
We had a guided geological tour of Bamburgh beach, shopped for antiques, gifts and food to take home in Berwick itself ( don't remember the name but found a fantastic tiny coffee shop with the best possible cakes and coffee AND unusual antiques run by an American couple in a tiny backstreet) and made the trip to a huge antiques barn (leaflet in the house). There are DVD's and books a plenty on the shelves at the Manor but I would advise taking your own - although to be fair we were so busy looking at the view from the upstairs lounge that we didn't really watch any tv or read anything. Would love to go back when the artist in residence scheme is open in summer at the Berwick Barracks and would make sure to take in a show at the Brewery Arts Centre next time.
An exceptional place to stay and highly recommended - three days was just not enough time.

Room Tip: If you have children take favourite books and DVs

Wonderful week in the Garden House. Extremely comfortable with everything provided. If it had been a wet week (but it wasn't) we would have been happy to just stay in and watch the weather and, of course, take in the view. Complete luxury. Without doubt somewhere to return to and I did - to collect a puppy!!!!! He has been aptly named Tweed.
Look forward to meeting up with Robert again - the perfect host who has put so much effort in to make all the properties first class.

West Longridge Luxury Cottages, near Berwick, consists of a group of high quality self-catering properties plus the Manor House, a lovely B & B.
My three friends and I stayed in the Garden House for a couple of nights in early February. This is a three bedroomed, five-star property with everything you need for a comfortable and unforgettable stay.
Gorgeous bedrooms (all ensuite), a beautifully furnished first-floor lounge with a cosy log fire and fantastic views over the Cheviots, and a superbly equipped kitchen and dining room.
Robert, the owner, takes great pride in providing his guests with everything they need for a memorable stay - right down to his home-made cakes and scones which were waiting on the table for us the afternoon we arrived!
We had a wonderful, relaxing break here. And while there are loads of great places to visit in the area too, most of the time we found it hard to tear ourselves away from our beautiful 'home-from-home'.
Children are welcome here too, so it's a great place for families to visit. There are swings, a family of llamas and lots of farm animals to entertain the kids.
All in all, a brilliant place to stay for a stress-free holiday - highly recommended.

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights en route to Edinburgh Fringe. I arrived stressed and tired and left 48 hours later feeling so much better. Robert looks after the guests really well and is good fun too. The rooms and the bathrooms are those of a 5 star hotel with great views of the surrounding countryside as well as of the sheep and llamas.
It is a bit isolated so one does have to drive into Berwick or a nearby village for shops, pubs and restaurants but this is worth it for the peace and quiet.

Actually we have been there in 2007 for summer vacation. And it is worth it to write something about that place. We had mostly very nice weather, we had wonderful walkings in that special place. Robert, the owner, was always busy around the cottages, lot´s of work to do to make it even more comfortable. Even the chickens had their own little cottage. Very nice view.

This was a week away with my husband and two friends to celebrate our birthdays.
We stayed at the Garden House and I can honestly say this is the best self catering accommodation I have stayed in. The house is beautifully furnished with everything you could need during your stay and the furnishing and fittings are of the highest standard.

Robert our host was the perfect landlord! and he even bakes beautiful birthdays cakes , which I had ordered before going.

The surrounding area is lovely with plenty of places of interest to keep us occupied and plenty of nice places to eat.

It helped of course that the weather was brilliant but the fact that I am looking how soon We can return says it all - the perfect self catering holiday

We only stayed a couple of nights at West Longridge Manor near Berwick on Tweed which is a fantastic and exceptionally clean bed & breakfast.

The Manor house is run solely by Robert who makes you feel welcome and at ease as soon as he greets you at the door, serving you with tea & his homemade cakes in the drawing room soon after you have unpacked. Robert’s breakfasts are also of a high standard using only fresh local produce

The manor house has been recently built to a very high standard and is a great credit to Robert’s own particular high standards, which include the furnishings and fittings.

Its location although 4 miles from Berwick on Tweed itself is easy to get to and from with good pubs etc not to far away.
