My husband and I visited here for the first time on 17th Feb for a Valentines dinner. We got a warm welcome and offered a drink before we were seated at our table, which we had pre-booked, which is advisable as it was a very busy Saturday night. The menu was sumptuous with a good choice. I opted for the seafood vol-u-vent with saffron sauce and my hubby had cucumber stuffed with blue cheese. The presentation was amazing and the seafood just melted in your mouth. Our main course was venison for my husband and fillet of steak for me. The venison was medium rare and was cooked to perfection according to hubby. My steak was medium and again cooked to perfection. In fact I’ve had lots of steak in many places but this has to be the best one ever it was so tender and very very tasty. There was a good selection of vegetable accompaniments. After a small rest we finished with a cheeseboard to share and coffee - it was the perfect end to a perfect meal. Garry, the owner, and his staff went all out to make our experience a very pleasant one. They were attentive but not obtrusive and even offered to organise a taxi home for us. This may have been our first visit but it will certainly not be our last.

Thank Tracy A

We really appreciate your comments Tracey bit to be honest not sure we deserve the praise you are giving us. In truth although we have been at the Hotel 17 years we still have the same passion & are not complacent as we continue to try to improve our business across the board.
We try & source all our food locally which is certainly such an important part of business as we support each other in a somewhat rural area. As reading your review guessing we may see you both in the not too distant future all being well? Again many thanks for your kind words.

We had a lovely meal at the hotel on Friday evening after arriving late in Berwick Upon Tweed.

The staff were very welcoming and attentive and the food was excellent.

My wife had a vension stew and I had fish and chips which we both enjoyed.

We had dinner twice at the Queens Head, a pleasant, quiet restaurant in the lower part of town. The food is excellent and well-presented, and the staff are friendly and attentive. My wife is gluten-free, and that was taken into consideration. Highly recommended!

Thanks Martin for your complimentary words on both dining experiences with us whilst staying in the surrounding area. Consistency is paramount in the business & being able to cater for allergies & intolerance's should be 'norm' & with a breakdown of all the ingredients available at hand gives re-assurances to the customers. The word attention to detail makes a massive difference & on that note we sincerely hope to see you both in the future if you decide to return to this beautiful part of Northumberland/Borders.

Six of us spent a wonderfull enjoyable and faultless New Year Eve at The Queens Head.
We eat here once a month, enjoy it every time, so bringing in 2018 here with friends was a 'no brainer' the service, ambiance and all courses of food and wines were 5 star.
Can't reccommend highly enough.
