A slightly hesitant welcome was probably because tourists are a bit unexpected in early March but it might have been a matter of timing because no sooner had we been seated at a table by the door than the locals started arriving in droves, all clearly enthusiastic about the place. Two very pleasant young waitresses and excellent food soon cleared any doubts and an excellent rating is well deserved. Haddock was particularly pleasing with lovely light batter, and although my hake was a trifle sparse it was perfectly prepared. Full marks!

What a great place to eat. Excellent service from lovely staff and a menu which is just that little bit different from other places. Recommended

Had a lovely meal here. The waitress/ hostess was a lovely lady. My partner has intolerance to chilli and capsicums, she was able to warn him off certain things and guide him to others. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Berwick as the food was delicious and they even gave me a recipe for part of the meal.

My husband and I decided to take a day trip from Paisley, we packed a bag and didn't know where we would end up. At 5pm on 2nd of March we found ourself in Berwick. As we hadn't booked in Advance we had to just turn up and ask if there was a room available. Lucky for us there was. Gary who was at the reception area when we arrived was very helpfull, he showed us the last available room which was room 3 and is a twin room . The room is perfect .It has modern decor , comfy beds , ensuite with toiletries, tea making facilities, biscuits, bottles of water, fruit , tv and free wifi and it was very very clean . There was nothing else anyone could need in my opinion bearing in mind that we turned up unexpectedly at 5pm on a sat.
We were leaving to go for a walk after we checked in and Gary told us that they were serving dinner if we would like a table . We decided to go out and see what was on offer. There were a few places that looked to have nice menus however roughly around 7.30pm we went back to the hotel to see if they could give us a table.. the restaurant was busy but luckily we managed to get a table . For the 2nd time we turned up unexpectedly. My husband had the venison stew and I had steak .Ive got to tell you that steak was one of the nicest I've ever had , it was absolutely perfect and I can't recommend it highly enough. My husband really enjoyed the stew and said he would definitely have it again. We shared a bottle of red wine with dinner which was also lovely, it was Red Faustino. We had actually planned to go back out after dinner however we were so well looked after and were very relaxed so we sat at the table and had a few more drinks .
The breakfast this morning was absolutely lovely as was the lady that took our order .
We didnt leave a tip at dinner as everything was added to our room tab however we left a good tip with the lady at reception when we checked out .
We would love to come back and plan to do so in the summer .
Thanks Gary and thanks to your colleagues also from the Harrisons

Wow many thanks for your very informative review Lyn & in truth no need but we do appreciate the kind comments. As mentioned in previous reviews we are just trying to offer a friendly, personal service with a relaxed, atmosphere but ensuring we provide continuity & consistency.
Passing trade seems to be a thing of the past as so many potential customers now book on line but thankfully we had a room available & you both thoroughly enjoyed your stay.
Let's hope we may see you both in the future but would recommend reserving & booking on line, Again we really appreciate your kind words.
