“A great place to relax and blend in with the locals”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

Just wanting to highly recommend this traditional bar in Berwick. Martin the bar man is a great host who has tales to tell whist serving behind the bar. Just proper beer proper bar and proper people. Magic , definitely go this bar if you like old school crossed with quirkiness.

“If you like pubs, this is a must”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

This is a great little pub. It is quite scruffy with a lot of old photos of pop stars and celebrities which are worth seeing, as there are some unusual ones.

The beer selection is excellent, and if you like beer you will not be disappointed.

Friendly staff.

“Proper Beer, Proper People”
Reviewed 8 August 2013

An excellent range of local, non-industrial beer which changes regularly, good atmosphere, and eclectic decor. No loud knobs, WKD, or alcopops. Pork scratchings to test your fillings on. What's not to like?

“Absolutely top-class bar for beer lovers”
Reviewed 21 June 2013

This place has everything - quirky character-laden decor, great choice of cask-conditioned ales, all in tip-top condition when I visited, with the bonus of BrewDog's superb craft-keg beers as well. No mega-brewery's design department could replicate a place like this - you have to let it grow organically and I hope the interior is listed! They seemed to be adding a minimalist industrial-style bar when I visited to add to the eclectic assortment.. If you are in Berwick and you love beer, don't miss the Barrel.
