Friendly, convenient, great breakfast, comfortable room and interesting art by the co-owner. Great pains have been taken to assemble information of interest to travellers in room packs and there is lots more downstairs. They really try very hard to please.

Room Tip: Although not in a noisy area the large family room at the back is likely to be best for anyone who d...

Thank you for your comment and we're glad you enjoyed your stay with us.
Two of our three rooms do overlook the street but it is very quiet in fact the noise of our local seagulls will definitely drown out any human noise whatever part of the Northumberland coast you're on. If this may be of a concern to anyone our single glazed windows (we are in a conservation zone and Alannah House is a listed building so double glazing not allowed) also have wooden shutters which can be closed to block out light and any noise.
We have lived in Berwick for many years now and pride ourselves in having good local knowledge, the packs in the rooms give a good idea of what Berwick has to offer but of course we are always about to give our views or advice on any trips you may plan.
Thanks again for the positive comments.

This was our 2nd visit to Alannah house, and it was as good as before! Greated warmly, and shown to our immaculate room we were almost to comfortable to go out, the Alannah House is 5mins walk to main area, with a choice of routes!
We enjoyed a good nights sleep, breakfast is 8-9, sounds early but boy its worth getting up for, a beautiful selection of fruit juices, fresh fruits, yoghurts, compote, not forgetting cereals on offer too, then followed by full English and other choices, guaranteed to keep you going all day.
We didn't take advantage of the lovely garden area this visit, but comfortable seating area and a summer house on offer too, maybe we needed a 3rd night! Thanks again Steve and Lynn, and hope you enjoyed your Anniversary meal.

Thanks for you comments, it's always nice to have guests making returning visits, we must be doing something right. We pride ourselves on providing a full and filling breakfast with a large range of choices to suit all tastes, we also cater for special diets as well.
The garden is there for all guests to enjoy, if you want sunshine as well give us 24 hours notice and we'll try to arrange it!
Thank you we did enjoy our anniversary meal, as well as being our 10th anniversary of running Alannah House it was also our 30th wedding anniversary so again, we must be doing something right.

Found it very easily (if arriving via A1 just keep going straight down Marygate then turn left!) Parking nearby as road quite busy but both the welcome and the room itself was perfect. Great locality for the City Walls and nearly everything in the town. Great nights sleep and a wonderful breakfast. The owners couldn't have been more helpful and happy to help with things to see, restaurants etc. Will be our first choice when we return to the area for a slightly longer stay in Northumberland.

Thanks for the comment and we're glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We appreciate parking can be a bit of a concern for visitors new to the area but we do supply residents' permits for parking in residents' bays or if they are full there is ample free parking nearby. We are always happy to help our guests with advice on where to visit, eat or drink in the local area and as we've visited most of the places will give honest impartial advice. We do hope you manage to visit us again in the not too distant future. Thanks again.

Four middle aged cyclists stayed here for one night as part of four day tour of Northumberland and The Borders. We arrived late afternoon to a lovely welcome from our hosts Lynn & Steve. We were showed where our bikes would be stored securely overnight, and then shown to our rooms, which I have to say we're very well appointed and immaculate. Advise was given on where we could have our evening meal, and where we could get a decent pint. The breakfast was excellent, a good choice from fresh fruit and yogurts to a cooked breakfast with all the trimmings. All in all a great stay. Thanks again to Lynn & Steve.

Thanks for the kind review, Lynn and I enjoy meeting new people which we do on a daily basis in this job and we hope that we can speak freely to our guests as friends after all you are staying in our home. We try to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible, just as we would like to be treated on holiday. Thanks again for the comment and we hope to see you again.

We like taking a short break in Berwick upon Tweed and find coming back to this B&B is always our first choice. Adds to the attraction of the area. Impressed by the attention to detail. Smoked salmon with scrambled eggs is a nice alternative to a full english breakfast.

Thanks Craig for taking the time to leave a review. We know we're doing something right when you and Ann keep coming back to us. As for breakfast we do try to have as a varied menu as possible not just the 'Full Monty' English and the smoked salmon but also kippers and continental breakfasts are available along with a good selection of fruits, yogurts and cereals.
Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon.

My friends and I were made very welcome when we arrived after riding 60 miles of the Coast and Castle route. Our bikes were able to be stored and safely locked away for the night - the room was stocked to hotel standard with everything you could possible need including cotton buds and flannels! The room was very comfortable and we all slept really well. We came down next day to the most amazing breakfast with so much choice and options we were very spoilt! Set us up really well for the day! They even had a bike pump the could lend us! We will retun!!!

We're glad we were able to make your stay a pleasant one. We are members of the Visit England cyclists welcome scheme and I am a keen cyclist myself so there is always a good supply of tools/lubricants/puncture repair/pumps on hand for our guests as well, of course, secure storage. We are near to a cycle shop who are always willing to help any cyclist with more challenging technical problems. Thanks again for taking the time to leave such a good review.

We stayed in the family room (Room3) and it was delightful. Great beds, great food, super great hosts. Their information folder was detailed and helpful. We spent a day on Holy Island and Lynn arranged a cab which was right on time. A really delightful stay. The hosts provided everything we needed and were a joy to talk to. We would come back to Berwick just to see them again. Truly a great experience I can highly recommend Alanna House--this is the best B&B we have ever visited. Walkers and bikers will find it a wonderful respite.

Room Tip: No elevator but not bad stairs. If stairs are a problem just ask for a room on the same level as Ro...

Thank you for the great review. We try to make our guests as comfortable and welcome as possible, we ask ourselves what would we want on holiday and then put it in to practice ourselves.
As for the rooms, all are on the first floor accessible by stairs only, we are a Georgian house so lifts are not an option but we will always help guests with luggage.
Thanks again.
