Spacious cottage with a fabulous huge field for the grandchildren to play in.Jim even put a cricket square in for my grandson.
Pam and Jim were very welcoming and left nice treats of fresh eggs, homemade jam and wine to settle us in. They made our stay extra special.
There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and lots of information in the cottage. Northumberlands beaches, especially around Bamburgh, have to be seen to be believed.
Hope to be able to stay again as only managed to do a fraction of what we had planned.
My husband and I were looking for a last minute holiday where we could take our son and two springers. Loanview looked perfect, when we arrived Pamela came to say hi, she is very nice and lives across the road but is not intrusive, she showed us around and then left us to settle in (also left a very nice bottle of prosecco)
The cottage is like a home from home with three large bedrooms my son loved the attic room! It was impeccably clean and very cosy with the real fire burning, we were told to use as much fire wood as we needed as it was cold we used loads!
Loanview has everything you need and with Coldstream and Cornhill only a 5 minute drive away your never far from a shop or takeaway, also Kelso has a supermarket who also deliver so you can sort the shopping before you arrive!
My family and I are already looking at dates for the summer.
Just back from 3 lovely nights at Loanview
Jim and Pam made us welcome as soon as we arrived
Left us fresh eggs, wine and sweets as a welcome gift
Could not fault the property
Great location, very clean and well equipped
Soon got the hang of lighting the wood burner which as well as heating the rads and giving plenty of hot water made the lounge feel so homely
On news years eve we sat outside watching the stars
With no light pollution you could see hundreds of them
Will definetly be going back and would highly recommend this property
Well what can I say, if you like the country life and are looking for somewhere to get away from it all "This is the perfect location and place to stay" We had the entire detached cottage to ourselves, made a change really as we have children and sometimes worry if the children are playing to loud, normally concerned about neighbors or other guest within the vicinity. Absolutely no worry about that at this booking, its a solid stone built cottage sat out the way with its own driveway and gardens, the owners only live over the road too, so are at hand if help is needed. We really appreciated the chocolates and free bottle of wine and the already lit log burning stove, All me and my family did from the day we arrived was compliment our stay, we really couldn't fault it.
We will definitely be booking this again and only wish we could of stayed longer, one more thing, if you are into stargazing you are in for a treat on a clear night. You could clearly see the milky way with the naked eye, even the dust cloud. I only wish I brought my telescope :) next to no light pollution so amazing on that perspective
See you very soon Loanview
Having spent a lovely week at this beautiful spot last year, we decided to try an early autumn break. Once again we were not disappointed. The cottage is such a quiet and cosy retreat, well equipped, and beautifully cared for. Sadly Pamela was away but daughter Sue made sure we were managing, and the eggs, wine and plums were well appreciated.
We enjoyed day trips around the area, cosy nights by the fire, and dark starry skies, the like of which is city dwellers never see.
It would be true to say we are both planning a return to the cottage next year please...
Having read the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor about this holiday home we were really looking forward to our stay. We were very disappointed. The cottage has, at one time, been very lovely but is now in need of updating and at least a really good clean. We were greated by flying ants on the bedroon window net. The owner quickly got some spray and made sure they were cleaned away. We were not bothered by them again during our stay. However, we were bothered by many other creepy crawlies. Black beetles, spiders, earwigs and numerous woodlice. Cobwebs were in abundance. We were assured by the owner the whole place had been cleared of them the morning of our arrival but our findings of cobwebs did not back that up. They said it was a characteristic of the countryside. We agree with this to an extent but there were so many it made us uncomfortable. We spent our first night hoovering the place. The next day we went out to buy some ant and fly killer.
There was a damp smell in the bedroom and all our clothes had a foisty smell when we got home.
The area was beautiful and we were blessed with lovely weather. The owners were nice and tried to make us welcome. The wood burning stove was lovely and the cottage is well equipped.
It has to be said we are not in the habit of complaining but in this case we feel it necessary to say something.
