We stayed here for one night, used the spa and ate in the Dobson restaurant. Service from all staff was excellent. Our room was an 'Executive', and was large, modern and comfortable.
The only downside to the room was the noise. Soundproofing is non-existent, we could hear the people next door, and a lot of door slamming etc., although everything was quiet by 10.30pm.
The hotel claims to use fresh, seasonal, local produce wherever possible, and has 2AA rosettes, so we had high expectations of a delicious meal with beautiful autumn vegetables. My other half had a meat dish with a slice of courgette and a piece of yellow capsicum. The meat was fine, the veg disappointing. The only meat-free dish was 'arborio rice risotto with vegetable ribbons'. This turned out to be a big dish of cheesy rice, completely devoid of vegetables apart from a few small strips of carrot. It was like eating very salty baby food, or a mashed chunk of mature cheese. To be fair, I'm not keen on risotto anyway, it's far too boring for a main course, but I hoped that somewhere like this it would be okay. Good food is a big part of the decision to stay somewhere like this, and on this occasion it fell short.
We won't be returning, the room was a little too noisy and the food just didn't meet expectations.More
