“A peaceful 'get away from it all' break in a beautiful part of the country”
Reviewed 31 August 2014 via mobile

We go to Northumberland annually, and booked a luxury log cabin after seeing a Facebook pop up advert. We had the standard two bed cabin (we are family of five - there is a sofa bed for number five).
When we arrived we knew we'd made a really good decision. The site is small, with some static caravans, a camping field, with some teepees for hire, and the log cabins around a small lake. It felt so homely and cosy when we arrived. Very 'American'. It had everything you could possibly need. Very clean and comfortable. We found the fridge a little small, so I'd say don 't take a week's worth of food.
The hot tub was fantastic ! It 's true that people may see you - but no more than if you were in a swimming pool. What a treat. Though wear waterproof mozzie repellent if you are in it at dusk. And take some plastic cups with you ( because sensibly you can't take glass into the hot tub). The only other advice is to take some Raid as there were a lot of wasps ( in high summer ), something the owners are award of as each cabin has a wasp trap). You hire the hot tub separately - if is worth every penny.
A great part of the country, so near to lots of great locations. And lots of fab doggy walks!
We keep recommending it to our friends and we are definitely going back .

Came here for a great holiday with all the family. The lodges were good and very clean. Excellent location as you're not too far away from great tourist attractions. Would have got 5 stars apart from the abrupt and unfriendly staff who couldn't be bothered to uncover the hot tub for us in the 'swim spa', even though it wasn't to close for another 2 hours.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay in a 'sleeps 5' - 'luxury' log cabin. Initial contact was very positive however the web site very much over-represents these cabins. I am not sure why they are called luxury. The cabins themselves are nice enough - once you get to them through the not so nice caravan site. Although the wood is really very badly cracked, perhaps this is normal, but it doesn't look nice. They are very close together and if you did hire the hot tub you'd not want to be shy as you will be in full view of your neighbours and anyone passing by!
The crockery/ pots and pans were adequate although a few were a bit chipped and there are no instructions for anything and no one could work out the microwave. Being a 'sleeps 5' cabin there was 5 of everything although not everything matched - for example, there was one small wine glass and 4 large. We had a couple join us for breakfast one morning so we had 6 people! One person had to go without...!!
We were told there were plenty of towels and everything we would need would be supplied. The towels were scarce and small and we ran out of toilet paper. A new batch arrived - alas it wasn't from the site, one of our family had purchased some! We never found a hairdryer. The shower was one of the super duper modern ones with jets and a radio. The jets and radio didn't work, the shower head was loose and fell off as did the handles. it was quite black at the base - could use a good bleaching.
There is free wifi in reception but you have to purchase it in your cabin. It is 'only' £5 per day but that is per each device.
I wish we had booked nice local b&b instead.

We stayed in the Cheviot lodge for the week commencing 4th August.
A couple of negatives ....no fish in the lake - this was quite disappointing for my Dad as our search criteria was to find somewhere with on-site fishing to keep him occupied - The site manager said the lake was being looked after my a private Company and they had let it go and really they should take control back again - I think this should be done quickly as i'm sure they will only disappoint more people when it's advertised on their website.
The lodge had no decking/rail around it - not a major problem but as a 'dog friendly' lodge it made it very difficult to stop the dogs getting out if a door was open as there was nowhere to contain them outside (fortunately we have well behaved dogs so not a major issue!)
Those were the only negatives - The accommodation itself was stunning, every mod con you could need in the kitchen, a gorgeous double room with en-suite, a 2nd good sized double room, a 3rd twin room and a 2nd family bathroom with Jacuzzi bath. It was really clean and we felt at home within minutes of arriving.
A lovely site, great location for visiting so many places in the Northumberland area and I would highly recommend & return
Some tips if you have dogs with you:
Visit the Shoulder of Mutton pub for fantastic food and dogs are welcome inside (in fact they were served their drinks before we were!) :-)
Druridge Country Park/Bay - Fab place for dogs & allowed on beach too

Recent stay here with young family. Some good points, but needs improving.

Very good location for seeing the area - right next to the A1 (not too much traffic noise - it's a few minutes drive from the turn-off to the "park"). Nice pond/small lake in the centre.

Despite some of the criticisms I'd make, I would say that overall we enjoyed this stay and I'd recommend this place as a basic base to see the area. But not luxury by any stretch.

Issues include the following. We were in Lindisfarne and I see some of these issues've been raised before

- needed better cleaned (dog hairs on rug, fat congealed in grillpan and stuck to oven trays which were piled on top)
- some issues with the kitchen equipment in particular the washing machine which wasn't easily useable (control knob falling off)
- reception staff (one particular person, I don't think it's appropriate to identify them further) not keen on dealing much with public from what I saw (possibly too busy?) and no apology or indeed any comment at all on the above when I told them. More training needed. At one stage they were so "blank" when I was speaking to them (probably imagining themselves somewhere nicer) it was really a bit uncomfortable.
- communal areas needed a bit of upkeep - discarded clothes lying in the grass outside our lodge
- lots of cctv everywhere - I suppose this is to be expected but there are big telephone poles with CCTV cameras dotted right outside lodges which isn't very rustic
- structure of lodge a bit dodgy especially rails outside worn and shonky-looking
- oddly no name or number on the lodge - a bit hard to find it!
- the hot tubs are right between the lodges so if you are doing your washing up you are overlooking someone in their hot tub about 4-5 metres away
- nitpicking a bit here but the communal bin shelters very quickly get overwhelmed with junk and are minging.
- no visitor/welcome folder at all - very basic information indeed provided
- water pressure poor, took ?20 mins or so to run kids' bath
- wifi expensive (single day £5)

So good base for the area, well located for travel, but not a luxury destination and several issues both with the lodge and with the general park. How much this depends on the specific lodge, I don't know. I can imagine from other reviews that this may be a major factor, but not everything by any stretch

Room Tip: if you are offered lindisfarne consider carefully

On arrival the girl on reception was very unhelpful and didn't really seem to care. The lock on our lodge was broken and she just kept sending us back saying it wasn't broken and gave us the key for another lodge. Eventually another very helpful member of staff came with a toolkit to fix it for us.
Although the facilities were very clean on arrival by the next morning they were in an appalling, dirty condition and should definitely be checked on more often.
The lodge was clean with a nice area to sit outside.

I really wanted to like Felmoor Park, its in a fantastic location and seems like a nice quiet park but it obviously depends on which cabin you choose and who you get staying next door to you. We stayed in Lindisfarne because I wanted a 3 bed. From the pictures I could tell that the interior was dated but thats OK it was reasonably priced for a 3 bed. From the pictures it also looked to be in the least crowded location. However, when we arrived the whole cabin looked so tired and is obviously in need of some TLC. The cabins are privately owned so I guess the upkeep is down to the owner not the park. There really was a mish mash of utensils, not enough knives and forks for a family of 4 so I had to borrow some from reception (isn't this something which should be checked against an inventory before guests arrive?) they looked a bit peeved when I asked and I was asked to bring them back to reception on our departure as
' they will only go missing' otherwise. The fridge unfortunately hadn't been cleaned and was really smelly with green sludge in the door compartment so that needed cleaning and airing we arrived. The veranda was run down, the wooden handrail was rotting and there were nails sticking out of it, there was also 2 cider cans, 1 full of dog-ends, on the veranda when we arrived. Surely, you might think that the staff on the park would at least check the cabins over before guests arrive. There were a few other things that really let this cabin down which is obviously so far removed from the other 'luxurious' properties which have been reviewed in this site. Oh and on arrival you are required to leave a £50 deposit for the hot tub and if you misbehave or people complain about your behaviour (!?) you don't get the deposit back.
What neighbours you get obviously also affects your experience, being from a big city, our idea of peaceful holiday is relaxing on the veranda or in the hot tub listening to nature and reading a book or listening to an ipod, unfortunately our (very close) neighbours who seemed very nice but differed in their ideas and relaxed in their bubble bathed hot tub listening to a really loud radio and letting their dogs -particulary their small yappy dog- wander around unsupervised. A few times it came round to us a yapped a bit, it was also on our veranda on more than 1 occasion. I didn't complain about them so I hope they got their £50 back. I've done lots of camping over the years but wouldn't liked to have camped at Felmoor, camp ground needs a bit more work, I'd get rid of the novelty teepees etc if i were them.
So, I would say think carefully before going to Felmoor, It could be so lovely, It sounds like if you stay in a log cabin you'll be fine, they overlook the small lake and sound very nice inside, the cabin next to ours, Puddleduck, also has a good review so perhaps we were just unlucky.
Good luck Felmoor Park, if Lindisfarne owner ever sells up, let me know.

Room Tip: Lindisfarne has a nice location, set back form the road and backed by tress and shrubbery and verand...
