We stayed in Reiver cottage (self-catering) for the weekend and it was lovely. Each cottage has a garden area, outside seating area and a working wood fire (logs are provided). This location would be brilliant for walkers as there are so many different walks to choose from and they cater for all abilities. There was a "Welcome Folder" which was very informative a gave details of local ammenities and sights/walking routes. We visited Craggside Estate which was beautiful - highly recommended.
There is a payphone by the cottages which is a really good idea as you get absolutely no mobile phone signal out there (it would have been good to be advised of this beforehand as I took no cash and then realised I couldn't contact my friends to give them directions!). The only downside that I could forsee is the fact that all the cottages are very close together so I can imagine in the height of season it may be difficult to have any privacy. This was not an issue for us, however, as it was quite quiet when we went. A really enjoyable stay - we will be back!
