I had read a write up in the local newspaper of the Sun which stressed the size of the portions (in an area where we do like good value) so I went prepared. Four of us ate and three of us went for 2 starters rather than a main, my brother was the brave one.
I had read complaints on this site of time delays and the starters did take 25 minutes to arrive BUT they were well worth the wait. The moules marinieres, on which I am something of an expert, were superb - a huge portion of plumptious mussels in a terirific sauce, the prawn cocktail was equally large and as good whilst the lamb kofta went down well.
All three of us opted for the duck starter - a whole leg on stir fry - remember, this was starter portion - and really good, truly herby stir fry and my brother's main of sea bass got a rave review.
We went on a mid week evening and the pub was really busy, we had booked and I would honestly recommend you do so - we shall certainly be returning again and again. the specials board looked superb but they were all mains so I suspect next time we go I shall elect to have one of these but will avoid the starter.
Two of our number shared a pud which they loved.
Wine was good and a reasonable price whilst my brother enjoyed the beer.
Really good value for good food in a nice environment.
