We found the Black & Grey very friendly from the moment we arrived. The five of us had a table prepared for us immediately and we were made to feel welcome. The menu choice was varied and excellent value and they serve a perfect pint of Theakston's. Spinach and coconut soup as a starter was something new to us but was delicious. Portion sizes were excellent and the homemade cheesecake was the best we've ever tasted. Two of our party had the sizzling platters and the landlady kindly told us that for a little extra we could have a bottle of wine. The waitress service was efficient and friendly and the whole atmosphere of the place made sure we will return again.

We had read about the new landlords in our Inside Morpeth magazine and decided to pop in. I liked the traditional pub style immediately and we were welcomed with a genuine smile by the landlord. The pub was quiet as it was tea time so we had a neb about and read all the menus and blackboards. We decided to eat and chose the £8.50p for 2 courses menu. The landlady served us, and she was friendly and attentive. The food was fine! We both had the pate starter then Himself had home made corned beef pie and fresh veg and I had fish and chips. Both of us were full up and loved the proper chips. I had a glass of chilled Prosecco as it is £2.50p on "Fizzy Friday" - a great start to the weekend!! The bill was under £30.
We'll be back soon as two gents near us were tucking into hot beef sarnies and chips and we need to try one each. This is a good local pub, just what we've been looking for.

As new residents of Morpeth we have adopted the Black & Grey as out local despite having to pass a fair few pubs to get there. Dean & Alyson are fantastic hosts and do their utmost to make the place as friendly as possible.

Tried the Sunday lunch for the first time today with family and it did not disappoint. The roast beef was melt in the mouth, Yorkies light and crispy with some lovely veg as an accompaniment (love the swede/potato mash!) All washed down with a very nice Sauvignon Blanc for the girls and Deuchers & Moretti for the boys.

Great atmosphere, fantastic food and a great range of beers and wine. So pleased the B&G is back to being a 'proper' pub.
