“Very good value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2012

We dined two nights at the Stable bar and Bistro which is part of the Hotel. The value excellent especially between 5pm and 7pm. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was of a very high quality. I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue to anyone in the area.

“Looks are very deceiving”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2012

beautiful from the outside, grounds look lovely, went there for sunday dinner, it was empty waiter served us drinks took our food voucher then disappeared, after 30 minutes i went to try and find him, and ended up seeing the kitchen round the back of the building, my god i was shocked, it was filthy, dirt all over the benches, dirty boxes, glasses stacked high and no sign of any cooking or chef! waiter came back into the dining area and we had to ask him if he could take our order, he appeared 5 mins later with our dinners, the beef was cold and very pink it was hidden underneath a very stale yorkshire pudding, the gravy was black?? and it was swimming in cauliflower cheese which looked like vomit, the carrots were old and wrinkly and the red cabbage was awful as was the cold lumpy turnip. It definitely was not fresh, and had not been heated up sufficiently. we left very quickly after, i couldn't help but feel sorry for the two people on their way in enquiring about sandwiches, such a shame as the place could be fantastic, totally neglected and i have to say one of the worst meals i've ever seen or experienced in my life.

“Main hotel restaurant exceptional”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2012

We stayed at the Otterburn Tower in April 2012. We had drinks in the lounge while choosing our food from a varied and innovative menu. The food was served in the oak panelled dining room - very atmospheric and steeped in history! The curried banana soup was something I just had to try but the sea bass/rissotto main was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. My husband had mussells followed by venison and was equally pleased with those. The service was very good. We'll definitely be going back and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
