We had a lovely stay - really enjoyed it! The cottage was very cosy and comfortable - and much bigger on the inside than it looked from the outside. Our dog thought she was in heaven - two little Shetland ponies to greet every morning, exciting walks - and a basket full of logs too!!

Our eldest son arrived later than us and came through the snow and the dark to a snug cottage with a roaring log fire, pretty lights and cups of tea and lovely home made cake. There is a great deal to do in the region all round. Thoroughly recommend it.

We found the cottage exceptionally clean, the welcome very friendly (home made cake on arrival!) and the location is fantastic for children.

The cottage itself is really tastefully done and was warm and comfortable with a great wood burner. The main attraction for the children were the donkeys (which they couldn't wait for us feed each day!) and the chickens. The way the place is laid out means there is LOTS of space (free from cars) for children to run about and play.

Great access by car to the North East and Scotland and the local town only a mile or so down the road with pubs/shops etc.

Highly recommend!

Pete

We spent a lovely few days in the Farmhouse Cottage in early October and used it as a base to explore the area. The accommodation was very comfortable (and toasty warm) and the owners very welcoming. The layout of the cottage was perfect for an active toddler eager to wander and explore. There is lots to do nearby and we made trips to Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Forest, the Farne Islands and Cragside House. Would highly recommend and we'll be staying again...

Spent a fab week here, my wife 's first visit to Northumberland. On arrival the Cottage was spotless warm cosy and welcoming, oh and the home made cake was fab and didn't last long...! ;-)
Bailey (our dog) soon made himself at home taking over the rug in front of the fire yes we did light it one night. Not that we really needed to...
The eggs from the chickens (girls) were the best we've every had and I'm sure we nearly ate all they produced while we where there. The ponies were very sweet and welcomed the odd carrot and fuss..
A proper shower would have been perfect, but i soon got used to having a bath...! ;-)
Would stay agin if we are back in the area...!

The best food around we found to be The Bay Horse, very good food service and welcomed Bailey...!

We stayed for a week with our 2 boys (11 & 14) and 2 dogs in August. The cottage was well located for touring and set on a river where my son (a keen fisherman) caught his first trout ! In fact he spent every morning and evening perched on the lovely river bank with the nice neighbors we met who were staying in the other cottage. The cottage was clean, beautifully furnished (rustic), very comfortable and perfectly equipped - thoughtful touches like milk, tea, sugar, cleaning products and a delicious home made cake, awaited our arrival. Even with our hoard of family and pets, the cottage was a good size. The vendors were so kind and made our stay really special, lighting fires to keep the mossy's away when Sam was fishing and the eggs from their own hens made wonderful scrambled eggs for breakfast ! We had arranged for all our shopping delivered to our cottage too (Tesco or Asda available). The boys particularly loved the rope swing and hay bales in the barn outside. We liked the little ponies looking over the fence of our garden too ! Nice and secure for our dogs(who didn't like the ponies as much as us), with tables and chairs to sit outside. We toured all over, Kielder National Park, Hadrians Wall, and Holy Island and the miles of sandy beaches being a big hit with kids and dogs alike !! We didn't get time to see it all, a week's not long enough - when we go back, we will be going to Elishaw Cottages. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend to others.

What a brilliant place to base yourself for exploring the wonderful Northumbrian countryside!
We stayed in the Chicken Coop View cottage which is very comfortable, well equipped and relaxing.
We thoroughly enjoyed the welcoming cake, Feeding the Chickens & Shetland ponies, walking down by the river and watching the Swallows, Robins, Finches and re-acquanting ourselves with the spectacle of the night time sky, including shooting stars!
Many of the local attractions are easily reached inc Bamborough Castle, Alnwick, Hexham, Hadrians Wall, Jedborough ,Kielder Water (First Red Squirrel i had seen in Forty Years & First Adder in 30!). Well worth the effort driving up from South Staffordshire.

We stayed here for our main summer holiday (2 weeks) with our 3 year old daughter, Heather. The cottage was ideally located to visit Kielder with some beautiful National Trust properties and other attractions also within easy driving distance. We never ran out of things to do. The cottage itself was just right for us and had lots of character. Heather loved that the horses were in the field just behind our garden and she enjoyed watching them and feeding them breadsticks. She also liked the chickens! Owners very helpful and welcoming, with a number of thoughtful touches left in the cottage for our arrival. Very much enjoyed our holiday, thank you!
