“VERY FRIENDLY STAFF”
Reviewed 22 March 2013

My wife & i spent two nights on a dinner, bed & breakfast deal in March and it proved to be excellent value.Very good choice of rooms. Restaurant very good and they catered for my wife who is GF very well.
The Saloon and Cabin bars have a tremendous atmosphere with plenty of locals and six real ales ales in superb condition.
All the staff were very friendly and always had a smile on their face.
WILL RETURN.

This is the second time we have had a weekend break here and both times have been great the rooms are warm and comfortable and if you are out in the annex you get a separate lounge which have great views over the harbour.
The evening meals were first rate, nothing fancy, good well cooked and presented food. The breakfasts were the same and set in attractive old world hotel.

Recently spent a week in Seahouses and visited the Old Ship twice ...The hosts and staff really looked after all customers and were very welcoming. Food and drink very good value and what a great atmosphere on offer. A visit to Seahouses is not complete without trying a local bevy...If you have an interest in maritime history a visit is worthwhile to see all the old artifacts ...my thanks to the "Ship.."

This was our first visit to Seahouses and we definitely picked the right hotel , from walking through the door we were met by a friendly and helpful receptionist who was full of information and helped us with all our questions about local attractions, in fact she would have been a brilliant tour guide !!. There is free car parking on site .The bar was excellent and really set out well with a nautical theme again the staff were friendly and helpful the beer was excellent but not cheap but still affordable , after all it isn't a Wetherspoons. There was a lovely log fire in the main bar which was very welcome as it was quite cold outside. The room was spotlessly clean , warm and comfortable , lovely shower and T.V with plenty of channels, only one "nit picking" fault, i would have loved a biscuit with my tea/coffee but there were none supplied . The restaurant was superb ,the food was of the best quality , the steak was cooked to perfection , i was going to have the same again Saturday but they had run out of sirloin. The winter deal allows you £15 towards your evening meal making this a very good deal. Once again the staff were excellent and efficient. The breakfast was superb and cooked well with a good choice . I must comment how nice it is to see staff from the local area and not east europeans as seems to be the trend at many places. I can not fault this hotel at all and we shall certainly return in the summer though i would miss the £15 allowance to the evening meal as this is not included in the summer rates

Room Tip: Bring a packet of biscuits, all the rooms are nice.

We stopped here for lunch before a long walk along the coast commencing at Bamburgh Castle. We found a very comfortable seat right next to the fire. It was about 1pm and the bar was almost full so arrive early so as not to be disappointed.

The veggie soup was excellent but unfortunately the cheese toastie was very 'stringy' (no idea why!). Nevertheless we loved both the location and atmosphere.

If you like this pub, you will love the Ship at Low Newton!

Have drank in here occassionally over the last 45 years but only now stayed in the place for one night. My wife and I and Bro in law and his wife received an early Xmas present and stayed on 1st of December courtesy of the Ma in Law. We arrived about 1430 but instead of checking in first decided a drink in the bar was the order of the day. It's a popular place with the locals and visitors alike but we managed to find seats in the corner of the main bar. After a couple of hours banter between ourselves and others we went to check in which was a very friendly experience. Up to our rooms which were both cosy with ensuite, unpacked and headed out to the Bamburgh Castle Inn Hotel opposite for a few drinks and sarnie to fend off hunger before going back to the Olde Ship Inn for dinner at 19:30.

Dinner was nice, reasonable choice on the menu, 3 of us had steak and 1 had scampi. No problems with dinner, served very efficiently and we gorged well. Back to the bar for some more refreshments, this time in the smaller lounge bar as the main bar was full. Afer an hour or so we did meander into the main bar and found seats. The Bro in Law got chatting to a bloke (Billy) who used to be the manager of the Black Swan pub around the corner near the caravan site. We all used to drink in there too when we visited Seahouses as the Ma in Law used to have a caravan on the Cliff Top site for many years.

Our kids grew up on that caravan site over the years when the Judge had it.

Off to bed at yon time in the morning, a great nights sleep was had in the comfortable beds, so comfortable we nearly missed breakfast, but did make it down before 09:30. Holly served us well and updated us on her sisters pregnancy that caused her to be taken to hospital but it was a false alarm :-) Hope the birth eventually happened, it was a boy I believe.

Breakfast was good, full English (Northumbrian), proper tea with tea leaves and strainer, kept forgetting to use the strainer and Holly changed our cups and brought fresh tea :-)

Overall this was an enjoyable stay, even if only for one night. The place has lots of character which I can't go into here, check out their web site for more info.

Certainly recommended, we had a good time with plenty laughs and free coffee before we left :-)
Regards

Az

Room Tip: Watch out for the dodgy teapots in the rooms that dribble all over the place when pouring, you know...

Great location, great hosts, great food, great beer and spotless. Our third visit in nine months tells it all really. The winter offer is exceptional value and you can double that value when you get great weather everytime. Lucky, I know but not a drop of rain on any of the visits and great weather for getting wrapped up and walking on the huge beaches under even bigger skies. The venue is well located and every room has been simply spotless. The breakfast, especially the porridge, is to die for and the dinner option is good value too. Can't say any more really. Just give it a try.

Room Tip: Room 1 ha s a lovely big modern bathroom with a roll top bath.
