Stayed here for one night as we travelled back from a short break in the Highlands. Lovely comfortable rooms which were very clean. Lovely soft towels and good tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The owners were very friendly. Pity the weather was so wet as the views of the sea were covered in mist. Liked the fact there were binoculars on the windowsill. Great breakfast with a good buffet of fruit and cereals and a variety of cooked breakfasts. Would definitely stay there again.

I stayed here just for one night in September 2011. I wish I'd had time to stay a bit longer. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful. Lovely comfortable room, views breathtaking. Just a short walk from the town and harbour.

The breakfast was wonderful - I have never seen such a huge selection of fresh fruit to enjoy while your breakfast is being cooked!

Stayed the last week in October 2011 with 3 for 2 offer & had a great time in a lovely hotel in a fantastic location.

Very friendly & cosy, great breakfasts.

Will be back May/June next year to stay again & see the Puffins on the Farne Islands.

For £95 a night, in the off season, you'd expect luxury.
To be fair we weren't expecting luxury, we had seen the photo's and knew what sort of place it was.
To be even fairer we weren't expecting to pay £95 a night either. The wording on the confirmation letter was ambiguous and given the decor etc we mistakenly assumed the rate was £47.50 per room per night - when we checked out we realised this was actually a per person per night rate. Meanwhile, our friends stayed in Bamburgh itself in a B&B twice as nice and nearly half the price!

Suddenly all the little niggles and gripes we had tolerated "because it was cheap" became mighty insults. We still talk to friends about what appaling value this place was.

Even a friendly greeting, and undeniably pleasing views could not redeem our experience. We were ripped off.

No Central heating - a horrid little electric heater. Cardboard thin walls, a narrow bed. The tiny and mouldy cupboard with a very noisy extractor fan was our "ensuite". Very outdated decor - miserly towels, and an all pervading whiff of cooking fat. It really wasn't very clean either.

The breakfast buffet was fairly standard, but the cooked breakfast was very poor - the sausages in particular were inedible.

For £47.50 we wouldn't have had any complaints, and the "luxury B&B" description would have been amusingly forgiven.

To put it all in perspective the night we left we stayed in the buzzing heart of Newcastle in a 3 star Thistle Hotel - which was huge and immaculate at a standard rate of only £56.

Room Tip: ask for a 50% discount! rooms on the north side have the best views of Bamburgh Castle - but all har...

WOW - This is one vindictive review, all because the gentleman did not read his confirmation letter correctly, which was in no way ambiguous. My suggestion is reviewers balance this review with all of our others. john

We reserved 4 rooms for one night for our party of friends. All were individually styled and priced and all were excellent in cleanliness and quality while the number of appointments in the rooms is usually found in more expensive hotels. Binoulars on every window sill throughout the hotel is a nice bonus. The 'Honesty Bar' and lounge was terrific; the bar was well stocked and keenly priced, while the surroundings very comfortable. The breakfasts were a quality and relaxed affair, faultless except for the volume placed in front of you; you really needed to be starving to finish the whole lot. Finally, they accepted our Airedale dog with no fuss and no sign that any dogs had ever visited previously such was the standard of the hotel. Oh, and the didn't charge us for having the dog - a European first in 18 months of travelling.
