Bed Breakfast and Dinner for two nights. Excellent food and very accommodating staff who joined in with our fun. Good beer at the bar and the rooms were functional but fine. Excellent value for the money, especially the dinner specials.

this seemed like a lovely old hotel, although really in need of some tlc,
the food was first class and the staff very efficient and knowledable.
the room was a letdown though, the bed very uncomfortable, and the room felt like it needed a good airing and dust.

We stayed here with a group of 10 friends and from checking in were made most welcome for our whole stay. The staff were lovely, nothing too much trouble for them. Rooms were well appointed and clean.
Food was delicious. We had breakfast and an evening meal with lots of choice. My husband says the breakfasts were the best he had tasted.
It was the perfect location for walking and exploring the beautiful coastline.
We were able to relax in a comfortable lounge after dinner to enjoy tea and coffee and plan our next days walk.
We would definitely return and recommend it to other walkers or people wanting a quiet break.

This is an old coaching inn which has retained much of its character. The building is big, and so are the rooms, which contributes to the relaxing atmosphere. Don't expect 21st century plumbing, or level floors. But the staff give the impression they know how to look after guests, have been doing it for years, and each one can deal with all your requests. The waitress fixed our bedroom TV, and the barman brought us fresh milk. Food is good, traditional and plentiful, and on Friday and Sunday a special menu is very good value.

I have just spent 5 days with 10 friends and we had a wonderful time at the Tankerville. Food was excellent, lovely to have hot plates! Rooms very good and and the staff could not have been more helpful, they all looked after us very well and we would certainly go back. I am sure we came home happy ut a few punds heavier! The rooms were very well appointed with everything we needed and very quiet too.

Room Tip: Room 8 was excellent!

Looking round the village of Wooler we saw an ad in the post office for the pub which said it was dog friendly,so off we went for lunch, there is a large car park at the rear and we were given a nice welcome from a waitress we got drinks and ordered from the menu my wife had soup and a sandwich a cup of asparagrass soup and a prawn sandwich with a dip I chose Welsh Rarebit and both meals were very good.My wifes soup was tatsty and I think the prawn sandwich held the world record for content,my rarebit was done just right with a local chees this came with a salad garnish, the total bill including drinks a pint and a soft drink was under £15 great value and we were both full when we came out.

I travel for business 2-3 days per week, and stay in a variety of hotels. Some are part of the big chains and some individual hotels like this one. Some good some not so good.

It is a shame that this hotel is the latter, and that once again it is the staff that make all the difference to an establishment like this. The staff were lovely.

The hotel...first impressions....very very dated. The hotel inspector would be quite vocal. Bedroom on walking in was "mmm..well it seems clean and tidy but very old fashioned". It was clean. Bed comfortable.

However the functionality of the room was not good. The lights in the bedroom went out at around 11ish and I mean out??, the "main" light would not switch on and neither the two lights above the bed. I had work to do and this proved annoying. There is only 1 small lamp in the room which I took the lampshade off of and put in front of the mirror to give more light.
Bathroom....shower roulette....1 millimeter left scald - 1 millimeter right - freezing. Takes a bit of fiddling.

If you want a cup of tea, watch tv and have a light on, you cannot do all three without having to move the tea and coffee making facilities to the floor. Hairdryer did not work, towel rail hanging off, and the desk part is so far under the socket that a plug with a molded plug could not be plugged in. ie. the Iron, hair straightners etc.

All things which should be working and not a hassle if you are looking for an easy relaxing stay and getting organized for meetings etc.

The rooms were clean but on opening the door from my bedroom to the hallway, there was a strange unclean smell. Perhaps the old carpets? Breakfast - I only ordered 2 slices of toast (brown) and tea. Got White toast and Tea. Although the girl got this simple order wrong I still say the staff were lovely and very helpful.

Small things, but attention to detail and a revamp in order. I would not chose to stay again, and unless it was revamped would not recommend it until then. Paid £65 and have had a lot lot better for this money in big chains and other hotels.
