“A lovely stay”
Reviewed 13 May 2012

My Mother, Sister and I spent a Friday night here. My Mother and Sister only live a few miles from this Hotel and we sometimes just pop in for a drink or a meal. This is the second time we have had a relaxing overnight stay.
We booked a package of Bed and Breakfast with a meal in The Bistro in the evening.
We relaxed in our 3 bedded room with drinks from the bar until dinner time. There was plenty to choose from on the Bistro menu. We all chose the same starter that was imaginative and well presented, yum. Then each a different main course. All were fresh, hot and delicious. Service was attentive without being intrusive.
Our room was a nice size, plenty of wardrobe and draw space. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom. Enough tea, coffee and chocolate and a nice touch a bottle of water each.
The bed were comfy and we were not disturbed by any noise from the Wedding Party.
Breakfast was very good.
We shall return for more relaxing stays.

Room Tip: The Family Rooms are plenty big enough for 3 Adults

It's hard to fault this hotel. The welcome at reception, the standard of rooms, the bistro food, the breakfast service, the friendliness of the cleaning staff... they are all the standards to which other hotels should aspire. Even when there was a small problem at an adjoining table it was well handled. You instantly know that you are a guest in a business that is well run and which cares about you - and that you are definitely not in a hotel chain. Easy to find from the A1 and only a few minutes off it.

Stayed for 2 nights in suite 74, we normally stay at the Charnwood nearby but due to that being full we chose Ye Olde Bell. What a result! Super hotel would recommend to anyone staying in the area. Only slight niggle would be the hot water was too hot! Turn on the hot tap and bang! Scalding water in an instant. Staff were excellent especially the two bar men on duty during our stay, very friendly and despite being run off their feet with a wedding and a birthday party they still made time to make us feel very welcome.

All in all our new favorite hotel in the area. Will be back!

I am delighted you have recently discovered Ye Olde Bell Hotel and thrilled it is your new favourite in the area.
We love it and are especially proud of our new courtyard with it's gorgeous new rooms, of which 74 ( or the Firth Suite !!) is one.
Thank you for alerting me to the very hot water, I've been able to turn the thermostat down a little!
Thank you for taking the time to write a review and I look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit.

Stayed in room 62 on Sat 31st March. Visiting the hotel for a wedding reception and staying the night. Very smooth check in and a room available slightly early which was nice. Sandwiches in the bar were really good, 1 and a half rounds and plenty of filling justified the price. For info, food at the wedding reception was very pleasant.

Room 62 is a corner room in the main building of the hotel overlooking the gardens, two floors above the conference / banqueting room. There was a little noise audible from the late night party. Tip: if not attending a wedding, check to see rooms are available in the separate annexe. Other than that it appears the entire hotel has been re-furbished since our last stay in 2005 and looks really good. Room was compact, but not uncomfortably. Power shower, en-suite bathroom, tea & coffee and digital TV in the room. Breakfast excellent, check out smooth, plenty of parking and lovely gardens. Staff all very helpful and friendly throughout. Faultless overall.

Room Tip: There is a seperate annexe at weekends if there are weddings and you want an early night.

After much searching, Ye Olde Bell was the chosen venue for my sisters wedding in summer 2011, the venue was perfect, the double sided bar in the function room worked brilliantly, the main room where we ate was decorated by Taylor Wynne and looked amazing.

Ye Olde Bell is brilliant. Highly recommended!

Thank you for your wonderful comments following your sister's wedding reception held at Ye Olde Bell Hotel, I remember the day well and I quite agree that Taylor Wynne did a fabulous job of dressing the room- truly beautiful and unique!!
We are very proud of our reputation for weddings and celebrations of all kinds and are always looking for something new to offer hence the introduction of our 'Inside Outside' bar which I too think is amazing. Good news is it's being extended this year so remember it's not just for weddings- call in any time for a meal on the terrace or just a drink, you'll be most welcome.
Thank you again
Kind regards
Kate
