Normal travelodge, handy location, really lovely staff, very clean and accommodating. Would definitely use again for nights out/shopping trips. Reasonably priced like all travelodges, and a Tesco, subway and Frankie and Benny's on site.

Had a lovely stay here, the rooms are much nicer than previously were, making it a pleasure to stay in. There are shops conveniently just in the area which was a huge bonus. The receptionist Lauren was really helpful also. In fact all the staff we encountered were polite and helpful. I would stay again.

cheap basic hotel, but offers what it says. we stayed here as it was near to where we were going for the evening.
was given room 102 which is at the front of the hotel more or less on top of the reception area, we didn't get any noise from the guests, but there was some sort of air con unit that was for the shop across the way from the hotel, this was whirring all through the night, so didn't get a good sleep.
it was unbearably hot too unable to get any kind of cold air into the room. the main reception area downstairs where there was a table and a few chairs was lovely and cool, so we knew that there was air con .
alsop on getting into the shower there were various long black hairs on the back of the bath so the bath hadn't been properly cleaned. the bed was comfortable.
would advise to ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

Visited with hubby and kids for a family baptism. We stay at this travelodge whenever visiting family in the area and it was much improved. The rooms were cleaner and have had a much needed lick of paint. Beds for the kids made up on arrival which was a really refreshing change and for once I didn't have to ask for extra towels and pillows, they provided enough in the first place!

Downsides were the price, we booked later than normal and were left paying over the odds. Still irks me that for fairly regular customers we aren't rewarded for this, or that there isn't a reward system in place in general with travelodges. Still using the wholly inadequate parking permit which is the tiniest scrap of paper that blows away easily once both car doors are open and the beds are still too soft.

Overall though, much improved, we will return again, just a few tweaks still to be made!

We stayed 5 nights in the Travelodge in July 2014. Chosen because we couldn't get into the Premier Inn at Carter Lane and didn't want to spend 5 nights at either the Central Hotel nor the Diamond Nightclub.

It didn't disappoint. The positives were:-

spacious clean, airy light room.
good ensuite and shower.
large comfy bed.
decent pub grub within easy walking distance.
shops in the next block.
always found a parking place
friendly staff

Negatives:-

couldn't get a hair-dryer from reception when we wanted one.
some noise from outside into the early hours... (hot weather so needed the window open).
TV channels all over the place.
Why oh why have they created such a barren tasteless reception area with tables and chairs belonging to a cheap transport cafe. I know it's a budget hotel but with reasonably smart bedrooms seems strange to have a tacky reception area.

My husband and I have had two lovely days in Mansfield Travelodge as we had a wedding nearby. The reception area was spotless, the receptionist couldn't have been any nicer and was so helpful and our room was lovely. The shower was really good and the bed comfy. If I had taken any notice of Tripadvisor before booking I wouldn't have booked. I would fully recommend the Travelodge in Mansfield.

My parents and I were visiting family in the area and needed an 'overnighter' so we could stay for two days.
We chose the Travelodge as we were able to book in advance for about £25 per room, an absolute bargain! Have stayed in the Travelodge in Alfreton before but chose Mansfield due to its recent advertised makeover.

On arrival we could see that the car park is shared with a Frankie and Benny's, a Tesco Express, Subway and a Cooplands bakery. The car park was very busy with cars coming and going zooming all over the place.
Entering the building a friendly local chap greeted us and gave us our room keys. The keys are electronic and are required to leave reception into the corridors.

Entering the rooms I was immediately impressed with their makeover; great new colour schemes and furniture. The bed was extremely soft and there was five pillows for the bed, more than enough as the pillows are really thick. Tea and coffee with a kettle, a flat screen television made it a comfortable stay. The room was very clean and tidy, compared to some seedy Travelodges this one actually looked like a good 3 star hotel room.

However, with a busy car park and nearby major road the noise with the windows open on a hot evening was unbearable. Even with them closed I could hear people outside and vehicular traffic. Took quite a while to get to sleep but did sleep well and awoke to the sounds of my alarm clock, and a delivery wagon outside my window.

Dropped the keys in the reception box and left having had pretty good stay.
Would definitely stay again of in the area and booking in advance but will ask for a room facing the back of the hotel overlooking a park.

Good job on the room refurbishments.
