“Nice hotel”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

The Lion Hotel from Worksop is a nice and quiet hotel; the rooms are old but with a lot of space on the sunny days in the rooms is very warm, is no air conditioned; the staff is nice and helpful; overall i have enjoyed staying at Lion for sure i will book again there.
Town center is just a few minutes walk, there are some nice restaurants and bars closed.

Hi,

Thank for the lovely review,it is nice to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.

The hotel dates back hundreds of years and a lot of the rooms have still got some of the original features, the hotel is currently being refurbished stage by stage and air conditioning is something that we are looking in to as when it is warm weather the rooms are warm.

We are in a great location as the high street is straight out the front gates and we are also in a great area for many attractions that are within a short driving distance.

We hope to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

Recently stayed the night at the Lion after celebrating our sons wedding there. We had a fabulous day! The team worked so hard to ensure everything was perfect for the big day. The food for the wedding breakfast was delicious, hot and plentiful. The rooms were spotless, spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast the following morning was lovely. Can definitely recommend a stay here. Living on the doorstep I've eaten at the Lion many times over the years but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms and the service we received as residential guests. Thank you especially to Sam who coordinated everything on the day and to the wider team who worked tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly!!

Hi,

Thank you for such great comments that you have left us, we are very pleased that you had such a great day and it was even more than what you had expected, we do everything possible to make it extra special as it is a day that everyone will remember for the rest of there lives.

We get many comments regarding how nice and spacious our rooms are, looking in from the outside people always think that they are going to be a lot smaller.

I have passed all your comments to the rest of the team and passed on to Sam the special mention that you gave to her, she said that it was one of the best days that she had worked and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this.

We hope to see you all again soon.

We had a lovely one night stay at this hotel, the rate included a bottle of prosecco that was in the room when we arrived. We asked for a bucket of ice to chill it, no problem.
The room was spacious and the bathroom huge. Everything was very clean and the beds very comfortable.
We ate in the bar and the food was fantastic. The Salt and Pepper squid were great and the braised beef was amazing and served with the best gravy ever!
Drinks were reasonably priced and service was attentive but unobtrusive.
After a good nights sleep we enjoyed a great buffet breakfast.
We would recommend The Lion Hotel!

The room was quite big compared to some hotels, the bed was huge, and very comfortable. The room service meals were brilliant and all the staff were polite and couldn't do enough to help you. Parking is available, but there was a wedding on and it was all taken, so you can park at the paid carpark close by, but beware of the times you have to pay.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor unit

Stayed Saturday 22nd June for 1 night on a Groupon deal which included a bottle of Prosecco. Check in was really simple, up one flight of stairs as lift smelled to a large room with ensuite. We had our baby with us and requested a cot but there wasn't one in the room. My wife went to Reception as no-one answered the phone and within minutes a travel cot arrived and was put up by staff. The hotel has free wi-fi but it is really slow. The room was also very warm but at least a fan was supplied.
We did not dine in the restaurant but we sat in the bar area and saw the food coming through which looked good quality and plentiful.
Breakfast the following morning was buffet style and of a high standard. Ate loads which mean't lunch could be skipped! Paid £29 for our stay which included the Prosecco. Worksop is a lovely little town, we will definitely be back particularly if we can get a baby sitter!

Room Tip: Room 206 massive.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a great review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay.

Firstly let me apologise regarding the cot not being in the room, we do our best to ensure that all guests requests are met before you arrive. The rooms are warmer during summer and we do provide fans for you and open windows to let the breeze in which does help.

Thank you for bringing to my attention regarding the WIFI I have contacted the provider and this is being looked into so that it doesn't keep happening for future guests.

We hope that we will see you again in the future.

I have had a wonderful time at the hotel, for the second time this year. The staff are friendly, the beds are comfy and the environment is good. Added bonus is that the hotel is in the centre of Worksop, with a convenient car park at the rear.

Ideal for shopping and a night out in Worksop.

Room Tip: Upgrade if you get the chance.
