“Cheap and good quality food”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

Did not stay here but we had a family meal whilst visiting in Worksop. There was a good menu with quite a few specials. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Food was good quality, hot and freshly cooked. Would recommend.

Stayed here whilst attending The Flashback Festival at Clumber Park. The hotel was very comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly helping us get taxis in to the park. We had lunch in the restaurant which was great. The steak pie was amazing. Great hotel.

Very clean and tidy well kept, management very helpful, food is very good and homely and so cheap, good value for the rooms. Eating in the bar or restaurant is just as good, good selection of beers etc.

Room Tip: Book well in advance

The corridor and room were freezing but we could have put up with that if the room had been in any way habitable. I tried to open the wardrobe and knob came off, tried to open a drawer and the front fell off. If we had wanted a bedside light on we had to unplug the heater. The shower head in the grubby bathroom was tied on with string. The wallpaper was peeling off all over the place and the unironed bedding looked like it had been slept in. we got our money back and went to the travel lodge.
The staff both on the phone and in the hotel were very pleasant.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else

Thank you for your recent feedback as all feedback whether positive or negative is welcome. We aim to work with any comments or suggestions made.
I would like to apologise as, on this occassion you were unhappy, but I would also like to take this opportunity to address a few of your concerns.

The portable heater in the room is not located next to the bed so there should not have been an issue with the bedside lamp. Also the heater is portable so could have beeen moved to another socket. Unfortunately that room can get cold when it has not been in use for a couple of days which I did explain when I showed you the room, hence the extra heater.
As for the comments regarding ther bedding. I can assure you that all of our laundry is externally laundered by a reputable local company and is generally laundered to a very good standard. The bedding is ironed by a roller iron so unfortunately the can be some crease marks in the folds.

I hope you can appreciate that December (when you visited us) is the busiest time of year for us due to Christmas parties and functions which would account for a lot of the general ware and tare so we take the opportunity in Janauary to carry out all of the maintainence within the Hotel.
When you made us aware of your concerns whilst at the Hotel, we did try to rectify the issuses by offering to show you alternative rooms but you just wanted a refund to which we obliged.
Once again please accept our apologies. All your comments have been passed onto the proprietors.

Where do I start? We were desperate for somewhere to stay, but I think I'd have preferred a park bench. Our (cramped) double en suite room cost us £70, for which we got inclusive cobwebs, sheet stains and the tiniest shower room in the world - we had to reverse through the tiny gap between the sink and the toilet to be able to sit down. Breakfast was ok, if you overlook the lipstick-stained glass and dirty crockery. Oh, and we had to go out looking for a cashpoint as their card machine was out of order. The staff were lovely and helpful, but they are flogging a dead horse with this hotel.
