Just visited Kings Head Inn Bledington with my wife on a friends recommendation. Probably one of the best meals we have had for a long time. Having seen a few negative reviews on Tripadvisor I can only say the location, friendly professional service and food quality is amazing and faultless. We will return .

Beautifully situated on the village green. Idyllic position. The food was fabulous. However the outside tables are not vintage, they are tatty. Our chairs were wet and the staff gave us a cloth to mop them with. No hint of coming out to clean their own tables. There are no shortages of great pubs in this area and they need to improve their standards.

Our family of 3 stopped here today for an open sandwich as a brunch before going for a walk

Two ordered the roast beef which was simply to die for- not too rare and served on lovely granary bread, along with a twee casket of thin chips. The other enjoyed the smoked salmon sandwich, again beautifully presented and all of us truly enjoyed the meal.

The only slight downside is that the boards on which the sandwiches are served have seen better days and look a bit of a health hazard with the cuts and groves. A nice rectangular white plate would make the whole feast more appetising

Presentation is the key, and having been in catering, these are the little points I pick up on,

The location is sublime and the staff helpful and have been several times - highly recommended

Thanks to the staff and whoever made those delicious open sandwiches

Best wishes for the season - marco polo and travellers

Our visit to the King's Head started in a rather unusual and almost dramatic way. Having approached the pub over one of the bridges across the stream we couldn't get through to the park courtesy of some thoughtless parking. Reversing out we managed to drop one wheel of our car over the edge of the open sided bridge, reminiscent of the final scene from The Italian Job!

I can think of many places where this would have been a nightmare but not here. Out came lots of members of staff not only to console us but to attempt to recover the car. After much pushing and lifting, all to no avail, they suggested we relax and have a drink whilst they called the local farmer to bring his tractor, apparently this is not an uncommon occurrence and we were reassured with the news that even one of the Royal Family's cars had been in the same dire straits.

The friendly farmer was enjoying his lunch and we were assured he would be along shortly in the meantime why didn't we order lunch as we were clearly going nowhere!

Given the circumstances lunch could well have been a disaster but no - the friendliness extended to us in our hour of need was reflected in the service, they even held off last order time for us to accommodate our white knight of a farmer lifting the car from its perilous position.

Oh and the food. It was great - simple, unpretentious, good ingredients cooked well, a perfect pub lunch enjoyed in the sunshine on their very pretty flower decked patio at the rear of the pub.

We'll certainly be back but next time we'll use the other bridge!
