My husband and I stayed for 3 nights over the Big Feastival weekend rather than camping - the bedroom was lovely and luxurious.
We booked a table for friday evening and had superb food (luckily away from the children's seating area).
The breakfast choices were spot on and the staff very welcoming also....we had a great break and plan on returning for next years' Feastival.

Room Tip: if needed contact the pub directly

We returned to the Kings Head Inn for 2 nights as we were visiting the Jamie Oliver Big Feastival in nearby Kingham. We had stayed last year for the same event and chose this year to bring the in-laws along too. Food excellent, rooms perfect and staff as friendly as ever.. We chose to stay in the same room as we loved it..small, cosy, comfortable, and spotlessly clean....room 4,over the pub. The in-laws were just as impressed with everything too. If I could quibble about one thing it would be lack of tables inside that are for just having a drink..all tables were set for dining only so we sat outside on the Sat eve and it was a little chilly ! A small section needs to be set aside for 'non-diners' as the pub is truly charming to sit in with a good selection of wines and local beers to offer. We will return if we are in the area as is really is a fab place!

Room Tip: We found the rooms over the pub very quaint, and very quiet

Recently spent 3 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The inn provided the perfect base for getting around the Cotswolds. We had a room in the courtyard with lovely views. The courtyard area is a lovely area to sit out in the evening. The food was excellent. Can highly recommend the mussels and the cheeseboard. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We would definitely stay again

We stayed for 2 nights and regret we didn't plan a longer stay.
The inn is simply beautiful. The rooms are well appointed and were nicely updated without sacrificing the character of the historic property. The beds in particular were very comfortable.
The restaurant and pub are amazing. Great food, terrific local beer in casks, excellent wine list, reasonable prices. A true gem of a restaurant / pub. Eat in the pub room, delightful. Don't miss the Wednesday Burger night (locally sourced lamb, beef or pork options).
Terrific courtyard, great place to wind down with a beer after a full day of touring the Cotswolds.
Great location as home base in the Cotswolds. And they have excellent map of walks of various llenghts you can take from the Inn. We really wanted to take the longer walk to their sister inn/pub, but the kids weren't up for it.
Kings Head is a special Inn, remarkable.
Be sure to visit nearby Chipping Camden, our favorite of the nearby towns and highly preferable to Stow on the Wold.

I have to say I loved my stay here this weekend (9th & 10th August 2013). The Inn is about 4 miles from Stow on the Wold, so a little off the 'normal Cotswold' track, and we stayed in the Inn (you can opt to stay in ‘the courtyard’, but our room (3) was clean, it was well decorated, the staff were friendly, the food was good, and I slept like a baby.

I think the weather helped, and there are two seating areas; the front overlooks a small communal park (which was busy on Saturday), or the patio area out the back which was very peaceful.

My only criticisms were that the walls are thin, so noise between bedrooms can travel, but if you're lucky to be staying with considerate people, this wouldn't be in issue.

Even though the Inn is not based in the more popular areas of Stow on the Wold, or Bourton on the Water, or Moreton in Marsh, we were able to get to these easily, and more besides, so for a little slice of the Cotswolds, I’m more than happy to recommend the Kings Head Inn, and I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3 in the Inn (just above the bar), and had two single beds, which were extremely c...

Hi,

We were lucky enough to get a room here at the last minute. We got a "small double" room above the pub. The room was quite small but that was what it was described as on the website and was reflected in the price. I believe the rooms in the courtyard are larger. The room was decorated very nicely with a lovely en-suite bathroom. There was also a delightful shared sitting area.

The pub itself was really nice. Modernised, but did not take away the authentic feeling of being a traditional country pub. The pub had a good mix of diners and locals enjoying a drink.

The food in the pub was excellent quality and there was a wide range of choice on the menu

The included breakfast was excellent as well

In summary, a highly recommended place to stay in a beautiful Cotswold village.

A group of 16 friends and I were lucky enough to stay at The Kings Head Inn for 2 nights on the last weekend of July to celebrate my hen weekend.

The weekend was planned around a trip to 'Giffords Circus' which was stationed on Barrington village green approximately 8 miles from The Kings Head Inn.

As a large group we initially researched large self catering accommodation options thinking that communal areas for the whole of our group may be limited at a hotel or B&B. When no suitable self catering options were available within a few miles of the circus we decided to research B&B's too.

The Kings Head Inn stood out from the very beginning; beautifully furnished rooms, a perfect location and perhaps most importantly staff who went over and above to be helpful from day one.

After an initial enquiry we booked 8 of the B&B's rooms, taking all 6 of the courtyard rooms and 2 above the inn itself. All were beautiful, clean and unique, what was particularly good as far as we were concerned was that despite all being different we felt all of the rooms were of an equal standard so no one in the group was better or worse off than the others.

Before arrival we had specified which guests were to share rooms and which of the the rooms should be twins or doubles. The staff had this organised perfectly so that as the group checked in in dribs and drabs they were allocated suitable rooms with efficiency and ease.

We had decided to dine in the B&B on the Friday evening and due to a couple of members of the group being delayed it was necessary to delay dinner by an hour. The staff were incredibly accommodating and made a change to the meal without fuss, despite having a busy restaurant.

Over the course of the weekend we made many strange and perhaps awkward requests including having the staff make up hundreds of ice cubes for us to take to the circus and helping us hide 'clues' for a treasure hunt organised by some of the hens. The team catered for all of these requests with a sense of humour and a smile, nothing at all was too much trouble. And when we had arranged lunch at a pub in a neighbouring village for the Saturday afternoon, some of the fantastic staff even offered to drive our group over there in lieu of taxis!

Overall I can not rate our stay highly enough, the B&B was perfect for our needs and we felt we had had a real break away. The beds were divine, the rooms spotless, the service outstanding and the food was just wonderful. But what really made it special was the fantastic team. From all of our group, a massive thumbs up and a huge thank you for ensuring our stay was perfect!

Incidentally, anyone considering a visit to this part of the country or indeed this B&B would be hard pushed to find better accommodation- or better entertainment that Giffords Circus, both family and adult friendly and spectacular in my book! :)
