“Mundane pub food - disappointing”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

Saturday 2nd August 6 of us went for dinner, the food was overcooked - the lamb especially and I can only assume the normal resident chef had left. The chicken peri-peri was covered in a powder from a packet! This place has gone down and down. Just being honest.

“Lovely food, surroundings and service. Great for families.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

Found this on Trip Advisor whilst staying at the Crowne Plaza in Heythrop Park. A lovely traditional town centre pub built in the local stone, with a few different rooms, with most space given over to tables for diners.

Service was excellent with high chairs provided for little ones. Menu was wonderful, couldn't fault a single thing, in fact the double cooked chips were the best I'd ever had! Wine list also good.

Do book though, it's obviously popular especially on the weekend. We managed to sneak in for an early dinner at 6.

“OK but should have been much better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2014

We were seated in a corridor at the back of the restaurant devoid of atmosphere and unable to see either the rest of the pub or any staff. This was partly because there were not enough staff and they seldom came to check on our progress which was slow. They did apologise once for the delay claiming that "everyone had come in at once", but it still took ten minutes before we were asked if we would like a drink and 35 minutes after ordering for starters to arrive. The food was ok to good but with the exception of the rib eye steak which was superb, it was ordinary and overpriced and slightly underportioned. Maybe we picked a bad night but I am not sure I want to go back to find out.

“Very Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

Friendly efficient staff, very good menu choices, especially the deli option, even prepared a starter from the lunch time for dinner.

Food was good and very reasonably priced. Parking could be better.
