A lovely B & B full of history and character with a family feel in a great location. Clean and comfortable room and delicious breakfast! The green that The Witney Hotel is situated on is beautiful and like a step back in time. Nearby restaurants and shops but just far enough away from the hustle and bustle.

From the outside it is a nice looking place. But beware there are no dedicated parking spaces which isn't stated on their website bearing in mind most patrons would probably arrive by car. Therefore you have to take your chances on the road outside and if that's full then try the other side of the green. The welcome was nice and friendly. We had a family room which is on the ground floor at the front of the property. The beds (one double and one single) were very comfortable. Sheets and pillows clean. However the decor look very tired and dated. The cupboard in the room needs a good clean. Whilst we used it to keep our dirty washing out of sight we really didn't expect it to be covered in a thick layer of dust when we left. Being at the front and on the ground floor it would be nice for there to be either double or secondary glazing. Not only to stop the draft but also for sound proofing especially having a toddler. The bathroom. Definitely the worst feature. Cracked tiles, bits of metal rusting, no adequate light in the shower cubicle and the flow rate for hot water for both shower and hot tap extremely slow. Yes you could boil a kettle but what's the point if you are supposed to have running hot water. The breakfast was ok. There are a selection of cereal, fruit juices, cooked breakfasts, tea, coffee and toast. Personally speaking I think portion sizes should be bigger. Example being we had one rasher of bacon, beans, mushrooms and a poached egg. Would be a nice touch if they sourced all their ingredients from local suppliers. If they already do this then maybe a good idea to advertise the fact. Would we stay here again. Well If you are reading this review then maybe you already know the answer. It's no. Also there is no way that it is worth £110 per night given what has been described above. We have stayed in better accommodation with no problems like those described above for less than that. If you are the owner of the establishment it might have been nice to leave some cards for comment. But alas no. The lady owner, who was cooking this morning, gladly took my money and was too busy to even ask if we had a nice stay. She may have been busy but it's the little thing that count. So if you the proprietor and you are reading this please take heed at what's been pointed out. There is nothing that I have written here that I wouldn't have written on a comment card, or said to your face had I been given the opportunity.

I shall return to this fine hotel again if only to be welcomed so thoroughly by the marvellous owner. What a gent he is.
Kind courteous complimentary!!
His hotel is worthy of praise and I so enjoyed being his guest.
I believe he runs it with his wife, although I'm not sure if I saw her.
Beautiful location, marvellous breakfast but above all, charming host.
He so reminded me of a TV character from a bygone day, a Mr Bannon!
I cannot praise this hotel enough

Clean, comfortable and welcoming in a nice property in an ideal location in the centre of the pleasant town of Witney.

I slept well, enjoyed the breakfast and would certainly return again.

Quite a few options around in different categories for dining out too.

We stayed here with a large group (I think we had all the rooms) The breakfasts were great and the location charming. The owners and their family were very nice and accommodating. The exterior is the cutest and most traditional Cotswald hotel you could design. But all the spaces inside are outdated and not in a good or classic way. We occupied the attic room which is for families and had several days when we didn't have any hot water for showers in the morning. They need to do some work to keep this property nice enough for most travelers.

We had a nice stay in this B&B with good value for our money, just perfect to go and visit Oxford but Witney itself is also worth visiting. A really nice old little town with some good restaurants. Breakfast was freshly cooked and there was fresh fruit available too. Nice porch to sit and read in the back.

Room Tip: choose a room near the back, the front has some noise from the street

We stayed here for 4 nights and in general were satisfied with the accommodation and food, but thought the hotel could be significantly uplifted into the present day as regards what is now expected to be offered in really good establishments. Our room was rather poky, though the beds were comfortable and the room though faded, was clean. Some lights didn't work, and the bathroom was rather cheaply laid out. Breakfast was OK in a standard sort of way - cereals, fruit juice a bit limited, and marmalade/jam in the usual dreaded little peel-off containers. Hot food well presented and good standard, with friendly staff, though only the choice from bacon, eggs, mushrooms, sausage etc etc were available. One problem for people who come to Witney on B & B for several nights (not the fault of the owners) is that the town is a virtual gastronomic desert - bog-standard evening meals are the norm. We had to go to Woodstock and the Trout south of Bampton to find anything of quality. Verdict - quite OK for 1 or at most 2 nights, but not longer owing to the difficulties mentioned.
