“Good clean hotel”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

Stayed here just one night.
Good clean comfortable hotel. Good choice at breakfast.
Easy to find off main road, but not noisy. Helpful staff. Didn't get a chance to use facilities. But would return should I be in the area again.

We stayed for a last Christmas dinner and evening stay package in January 2014. The room was spotless and we used the spa facilities on arrival before dinner. Our tables were all ready and it all felt very special and the staff were excellent. After a lovely 3 course evening meal, we had a good standard of cabaret ....in the morning a fantastic full English with lots of extras. All in all - an excellent stay at witney four pillars with full credit to the staff.

Hubbie and I treated ourselves to the dinner bed & breakfast package for our weekend away. Our first impressions were that it looked very nice, and this was continued throughout check-in. The reception area was welcoming and clean and tidy and the check-in swift and efficient and the staff very friendly and helpful. We were allocated room 34, which was spacious and very clean. There was a good hairdryer and a plug in front of the mirror hurrah! Tea and coffee and biscuits were also provided. Our only niggles about the room were
1. The bathroom door handle was in dire need of oiling (no chance of a quiet trip to the loo in the night!)
2. The toilet is electric and not very efficient - it took at least 4 flushes to get rid of everything
3. The bed was a bit hard for my liking but that is my own personal beef - I like a soft bed
4. Personal pet hate - plastic glasses in the bathroom
5. Being blind as bats we found that the tv was too small for us to see properly from the bed
6. On the second night I was woken up every 20 minutes or so by a very strange noise, a bit like a jet engine landing on the ceiling - I can only assume it was the loo in the room above and we had someone with a very weak bladder staying in it!

The food was very good. We chose from the A la carte menu which had plenty of choice, small tip though, on both nights the chefs recommendation carried an extra charge! Again the staff were very friendly and efficient and the service was good. Breakfast was plentiful and we were never waiting or queueing.

We went with all good intentions of using the leisure facilities ...................... but only got as far as the bar!

The village of Witney is walk-able from the hotel and worth a visit, we were told it took 10 minutes, but plan for 20 to 30 minutes.

All in all a lovely weekend away and the hotel was nice - would we stay there again - Yes (not in room 34!) if we were in that neck of the woods, but there are so many other places to go to that it is unlikely.

We stayed on a weekend deal as we we doing a tour of the Cotswolds, very good location for visiting places like Burford and Bibury.

The room was comfortable and very big, amazing water pressure in the shower. The decor in the rooms was somewhat basic though for a four star hotel.

Leisure club had good facilities, nice pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna - the changing rooms left a lot to be desired though, very wet floor and some of the showers were not working properly - expected a bit more from a four war hotel.

We had dinner which was OK but not amazing for the price, the breakfast was good though with a great selection - we had a good deal on the room with breakfast included.

Agree with other travellers, the bar prices are incredibly steep, much more than bars in upmarket areas of London.

Overall though a good stay and we would go back if we had a similar B&B deal.

There is nothing wrong with this hotel. It has the feel of a Travel Lodge/Premier Inn. The rates are much higher though, we paid £100 B&B. Would only recommend this if the location is important. Breakfast was atypical buffet and quite acceptable. We didn't use the leisure facilities. The photos on the website give the impression of a rural setting, it isn't.

We came to this hotel as idealy situated for a visit to family. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We booked a room connected to another for convenience as our daughter and small grandson were coming with us. No problems on arrival and the rooms were clean and comfortable and set up with a travel cot as requested. Good nights sleep as very little noise and beds comfy. We didnt dine at the hotel as had meals booked out. Used hotel pool which was warm and relaxing. We would stay at this hotel again and reccomend to others. We found Oxford centre very busy, however Witney is well worth a visit as it has lovely quaint shops and is much quieter to relax for an afternoon drink.

Room Tip: When booking make requests if conecting room needed
