We stayed here in July, it was cleAn, was decorated beautifully, our room was really good value for money, the food was excellent. I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay in Witney. My only gripe would be it is slightly overpriced.

Hi Judith,

We’re really pleased to hear that you had a wonderful stay with us in July, thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. It’s so lovely that you enjoyed the room décor, we like to make the rooms as homely as we can and it’s great to get such positive feedback on them.

If you’re ever back in the area we’d love for you to come back and say hello!

great welcome
nice bar - but no lime in my gin and tonic
room roasting
window open - loads of noise
bench by takeaway means swearing and loudmouth chat from local youths
however - room well set out and Trimbach pinot blanc in the fridge - classy!!!!!!
AWAY TO DINNER NOW - SO MAYBE THAT WILL BE GOOD TOO!

Room Tip: HAVE NOT TRIED THE BACK OF THE BUILDING - BUT MUST BE BETTER THAN THE FRONT!!! When I go to sleep...

Hi Crawhound,

We’re really pleased to hear that you like the décor and welcome. I’m surprised to hear that you didn’t get a lime in your gin and tonic, this is definitely a mistake on our part and we would have been more than happy to fix this if you’d mentioned it! Sorry about that.

The Blue Boar underwent another refurb which completed in March this year and, amongst other things, included the addition of air-conditioning to all rooms, improvements to the soundproofing and free wi-fi throughout the venue.

We’d love to hear what you thought about your meal too!

I came and stayed at the Blue Boar while attending a nearby Event and liked it so much I extended my holiday by an extra couple of days. A real rarity in a small, historical English market town - a fresh clean and contemporary hotel, housed sympathetically within an old building, with lighting, and plumbing that works well, crisp white cotton bed linen, soft pillows, uncomplicated and stylish decor, top quality amenities and immaculate housekeeping. The hotel restaurant was absolutely excellent and the included breakfast superb. The only downside was the limited parking in Witney itself - (maybe a form of valet parking could be introduced for guests staying more than one night?)... otherwise I really cannot recommend this small hotel highly enough.

We were looking for a weekend away to attend a party we were invited to and came across the Blue Boar Witney - evening menu sounded very appetising and didn't disappoint.Saturday Evening staff in dining room very attentive despite a function in another room going on.
Reception staff very attentive, Road facing room very good, clean, smart - though very hot for the summer (no airconditioning - due to the age of the building - not allowed to be installed. Fan provided.Parking on main road easily accessible early evening. As the Blue Boar is also a bar/restaurant & rooms it became very noisy in the evening - passing trade as well as people in the bar below our windows. Too warm to close windows. Breakfast service- half hearted. Couldn't believe it was the same accommodation. Asked to serve ourselves at buffet breakfast - no dishes for cereal, (we were presented with gratin dishes), no milk, or juice prepared. No bread to toast. Water luke warm for drinks. Tea served in cups no t pot until requested. Same the following day (Monday) (didn't stay for dinner on the Sunday). Again constantly asking/reminding staff for requirements for breakfast - ordered salmon & scrambled egg - arrived no salmon - arrived on plate later after reminder - again no t pot.
Lovely Town.

Hi Alecandlaura,

Whilst we’re delighted to hear that you had such a pleasant meal on the Saturday, it is very concerning to hear that your breakfast experience did not live up to it. Something we value very highly at Oakman Inns is consistency, and this was evidently not the case during your stay. Thank you so much for raising this issue, we will endeavour to retrain our breakfast staff and make sure that it matches the high standard of our dinner.

Thank you for understanding about the room temperature. One of the pitfalls of being in such a beautiful old building is that the rooms can get a bit warm, for the majority of the year this isn’t a problem (oh, wonderful rainy England!). However, with the gorgeous weather this summer, they have got a bit warm. The Blue Boar underwent another refurb which completed in March this year and, amongst other things, included the addition of air-conditioning to all rooms, improvements to the soundproofing and free wi-fi throughout the venue.

Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback, we hope you’ll come and visit us again soon!

If your visiting the Cotswolds or Oxford then this is a place to stay - having a combination of a high quality hotel, the informality of a pub and the upmarket ambience of a wine bar. Rooms are comfortable although quite warm in the summer and it can be noisy with the window left open. There isn't any parking so it's a fight for on street parking however you shouldn't find any problem around Witney.
Breakfast is lovely however the coffee was sporadic and not that hot. Overall, very good value for money.

Stayed for one night, Friday. Arrived at hotel after a long day at the Gamefair to find there is no parking for the Hotel as such so had to find a space on the main road which has restrictions. Arrived in our room to find the tempreture due to the weather was unbearably hot. Also our room faced out into the garden area so couldn't keep the curtains open as everyone could see in. The Hotel had a wedding reception going on also so the noise was ridiculously loud until gone midnight. Definitely think the hotel should invest in some kind of air coolant so people can sleep when we are having hot weather. The staff were friendly and the food was good, the main thing that ruined the stay for us was the noise levels and heat. We did ask to move rooms but there wasn't anywhere to move to. Our friend also had a room at the front of the building and her room was also overheated, she finally managed to fall asleep but was woken by the market setting up at 5.30am. I think if your looking for a place to stay for a restful night look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Go when it's cold and take earplugs and a air conditioning unit if hot!!

Hi MrsLodge13,

I’m really sorry to hear that you did not have a nice stay with us.

With regards to the car-parking situation, as we are based right in the centre of town it was impossible for us to build a cark park. However, there is ample parking around the town that is only a short distance away. It’s both a blessing and a curse being this central!

Thank you for alerting us to the problem of privacy, we will make sure that we look into some way of sorting this out.

I’m sorry to hear that you were too warm in your room; unfortunately, due to the age of the building we were limited in what air conditioning facilities we can install. The Blue Boar underwent another refurb which completed in March this year and, amongst other things, included the addition of air-conditioning to all rooms, improvements to the soundproofing and free wi-fi throughout the venue.

Really helpful reception staff (they were the only staff that we spoke to but I assume that the others would be like that too). Stayed on a Friday night and as we were going to the air show the next day we needed a breakfast at 7.30am however, breakfast normally starts at 8am on a Saturday. No problem, we had a superb breakfast at 7.20am - that was thanks to the helpful reception staff and the wonderful chefs.

Witney is a lively (noisy) place on a Friday night but thanks to excellent double glazing and a large cooling fan this was not a problem. The bedroom was excellently appointed, very clean and with all the soap, towels etc. that you would need for a week let alone one night.

A great stay - so many thanks to the excellent staff at the Blue Boar.
