“Poor.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2014

We tried to visit this lovely inn a few weeks ago but it was packed so we went elsewhere and had a lovely meal. We visited The Rose Revived again this evening for a meal. It was not busy at all - possibly because it was terrible. The service was slow and not particularly helpful. The food was only just edible. Fish and chips tasted as if the oil needed to be changed and the gammon steak tasted of the stale oil as well. Left a poor after-taste.
I don't think we will be rushing back again.

A beautiful evening so decided to go for a meal and a bottle of wine. Wine was fine but when we went to order food we told its 20 minutes wait for your starter then 50 (yes 50) minutes for the main. But you can have them both at the same time and the wait will be 50 minutes. No they weren't full by any stretch of the imagination. Left there and went to the Black Horse in Standlake which was friendly and the food lovely.

This hostelry needs to sort out its customer service and its booking system, which in our experience was chaotic. It led to some strained encounters with a member of staff, who may have had the excuse of being overworked in a clearly understaffed bar, but displayed a clear lack of skill in communication. There was also a mix up over room keys which resulted in strangers walking into a room and finding the occupier relaxing on the bed in his natural state!
On the plus side, the pleasant assistant manager was co-operative and attended to the non-working shower promptly. (Shame he was on his break when attempting to sort out the booking mix up!) Be aware that not all rooms are en suite. All in all, not the greatest of experiences and a shame as the location is lovely.

We stopped at this Inn whilst out and about today for a drink and a bite to eat. There is plenty of parking and from the outside the Inn looks picturesque. Upon entering there were plenty of tables and the interior was very pleasant. However, whilst there was no queue at the bar for drinks it took an age to get served. We settled at our table and my partner went to use the toilets. The first set he went to were out of order. After walking to the other side of the Inn to use the others he came back disgusted. Every toilet was leaking, there was a sign stating wet floor and they apparently "stank!" We decided not to stay for food and drank up and left. Such a shame as it really does look idyllic from the outside!

Travelling with my dog, I chose this hotel for the location by the Thames and good walks.
I was not disappointed. Homely, comfortable, welcoming with a good choice of well priced and well presented food. Excellent breakfast included in the price. Only criticism would be long waits for food and drink orders due to short staffing but I feel a small price to pay for such an enjoyable short break in the Cotswolds....Thank you

Room Tip: I occupied room number 3, which I found very comfortable and clean. Cannot comment on others

I have visited this public house a few times now, and always stay here when I am in the area, as it has lovely clean rooms at a very reasonable rate. Breakfast was very enjoyable, relaxed and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed Bank Holiday weekend for two nights. The garden here is lovely, well kept with views over the River Thames. We were able to grab a table for a lovely lunch before leaving which was delivered to our table hot and well presented even though it was busy. I would recommend this establishment to all. Staff very pleasant, friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to our next visit.
