Visited this pub with our 9 year old daughter whilst holidaying in the area, Found the atmosphere to be very unwelcoming and geared towards the locals who drink in the pub!!! We were told they no longer serve food, so we settled for a quick drink as felt obliged, My partner had a pint of carlsberg which wasn't very nice. What upset us the most about the pub was the fact that the locals that were sat at the bar looked down their nose at us!! My partner over heard a very snooty women trying to speak behind her hand saying she didn't think people with trainers and such attire should be served at this pub and should be turned away!! He was wearing a smart t shirt brand new expensive trainers and smart shorts, but regardless of this who is she to judge us!! They were all having a good snigger as long with the bar staff, we just felt we were not welcome at all!! What these simple narrow minded people need to remember is proberbly the only thing that is keeping this place open is the passing trade of people holidaying in the area,we have visit it this campsite down the street for 3 years now and everyone we have spoke to said the bell was terrible for food so I'm very surprised to see it still open! so in future anyone reading this is in the area and looking for a good meal, good drink and a welcoming atmosphere bypass this pub and visit the Black Horse about 400 yards down the road.
