Really friendly staff but unable to understand some of our questions due to the language barrier. The bath side was falling off and broken, there was very little pressure for the shower and the wardrobe doors wouldn't open.
A real shame as the staff tried hard. It just looked like it needed some money spending on it and a bit of care. Also wasn't sure about the Thai themed restaurant / breakfast area in a quaint Old English hotel.

Wonderful hotel quaint and quirky with friendly staff , lovely food and cracking beer ! Plenty to do in the area with good walking and links to Oxford , London and the A34 trunk road within easy access.
I stay once a month and look forward to my stay as a highlight being in the hospitality trade for 20 years.

Bathroom had mold and was very small and run off a very noisy SANI FLOW system. The toilet seat did not fit so when you were sat down the lid rested on your back and when you stood up it slammed closed. Large kettle but would not fit under the taps in the small sink.

All plug points at opposite side of the room and they used extension leads!!. lampshade on main light was just resting on the bulb and one of the bedside lamps had no bulb in it. Dirty patchy walls, cracks in windows and frames rotten. No wardrobe just a grubby alcove with curtain and bent wire coat hangers. The whole room was tired and grubby.

Parking (or lack of it) a nightmare only enough for 3 cars. Have stayed in other hotels in witney that charge the same and they are far superior. sounds as though some of the rooms are OK I was in room 5 not big enough to swing a cat in. Would not stay here again

Had a lovely two days at the old court hotel the room was great with original features of the old stable. The breakfast and snacks etc were of high quality and very nice and hot. Julian and his friends and staff made us feel very welcome like we were part of an extended family and went out of there way to make sure our stay was enjoyable we would definatley stay here again on a return trip to witney.

We booked 2 rooms here expecting to get what their website shows. I will say one thing their marketing deserves an A+, but the rooms we had were poor. One room was supposedly their most recently refurbished room, but it certainly did not have that feel. It was also very small and you could hear everything in the room next to you even though they say it is a quiet room. The other room was tolerable, but the bathroom had a really bad moldy smell and their was a large bug in the shower. The shower also had puddles of standing water as if it was not cleaned from the last person. The door to the outside did not seal shut letting a lot of cold air in. It is also right next to the kitchen and you could hear plates and glasses clanking.
Very little parking room and it was easy to get blocked in.
For what we paid for the rooms, I feel ripped off. I have stayed in 5 star rooms for less money.
The only thing keeping me from giving it a Terrible rating is the food. The breakfast was good and the eating area did appear to be newly refurbished and kept clean.

The car park is very very tight however with some very careful manouvering I managed to get into space 3. A very relaxed approach to the feel of the operation - more akin to staying at a friends house. Room 10 was accessed up a darekend stairwell - couldn't find the light switch and to be fair didn't ask at a later stage - a light on a sensor would be great. One of the walls needs to be re plastered and re painted - not rustic charm more like in need of re decoration. If you are showering / changing in daylight you will need to close the curtains as you are overlooked by other rooms. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom functioned as it was supposed to. There are the usual shampoos and condiotners provided in the bathroom.

Juice - cereal provision was basic at breakfast however the full english (no choice of times offered) was tasty and well presented. Coffee had been standing for some time so didnt drink - the only fault with breakfast.

Room Tip: Stay in the main building

I think this a hotel of two halves, clearly many people have a good stay in a nice room, but unfortunately this wasn’t our experience.
On a positive, the Thai restaurant was excellent, both the food and the cost. Breakfast too, was good. The four poster bed was lovely and extremely comfortable and the room was clean. The proprietor was also attentive and helpful.
On a negative, our room was less than 6 foot from an extremely busy and noisy main road. By 6am it was impossible to sleep and every bus or lorry made the bed shake. This was not helped by the fact the room only had single glazing. Having checked the hotel website and were looking forward to a newly refurbished room with superior bathroom. The room in fact was very tatty, paintwork was in serious need of attention. The door looked insecure and like it had been jemmied open on several occasions which wasn’t very reassuring. The bathroom had cheap sanitary ware, the shower only dribbled and it was actually impossible to stand under. The bath panel was broken, over applied sealant looked gruesome. There wasn’t even a towel rail, or glasses to put your toothbrush in. We were very disappointed with the room we were given, especially at the price.
I'm not a person who has ever given a negative review before but on this occasion I have no alternative.
