“Lovely Stay 25.04.14.”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

We visited The Crown last week using a voucher and we had a very enjoyable stay. We arrived earlier than arrivals time but this was no problem and we were shown to our room in the coach house, which was spotlessly clean and very nice. Tea and coffee facilities, nice clean bathroom with towels and toiletries all provided. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed a very good three course meal for £15.95 each (free bottle of wine that came with our voucher too) with helpful staff and quick, good service. We then relaxed in the bar with prices comparable or less than our local pub! Breakfast good, you do have to pay £2.00 extra for cereals & juices etc but we found the cooked breakfast and toast all included plenty for us.
We had a lovely stay in a nice country inn, would recommend. Thanks.

Room Tip: Room 10 was very good,

ooked to stay at The Crown with a voucher that was a decent deal along with another couple, on the journey down had a text from my friend saying " have you read the reviews? A bit scary!" So of course I read a few, still we went with an open mind and we was not disappointed.

We had a lovely warm welcome from the friendly staff who took us to our room (23 & 25) both in "The College" lovely views for us and the room was clean and comfortable.

If anything the room was too warm but once we turned off the heating it was just right, the bedding and towels were crisp and clean, the shower was hot, I have no complaints.

It you expect 5 star them maybe you should pay 5 star prices, we had great value for money and would stay again at the right price.

Thanks for an enjoyable stay!

Stayed here for a two night stay. The room itself was Ok but the bathroom was not. There was a big circle around the base of the toilet that had no lino where a previous size toilet once sat and the lino was old and dirty looking. The bath panel was hanging off. In general it felt dirty. On the second night I discovered a piece or metal poking out of the mattress by it cutting my leg. The issue with the staff is a weird one. They were polite enough but several times they asked what we wanted and would walk away and forget our request altogether. This happened numerous times. Breakfast turned up with no toast despite again being asked about it. We then asked for toast again which arrived as we finished our very average breakfast with no butter in sight. Who delivers toast to a table with no butter ? Had to catch someone again to get butter by which time the toast was stone cold.
I got the feeling that they resented the voucher deals but it occurred to me the place would be empty without them !
We definitely won't be staying again

booked with Wowcher and really looked forward to the much needed break. Very disappointed advert gave us the impression would be staying in the 16th century coach house and the photos in the advert looked very pleasing. No mention in the advert that discounted guests have to sleep in the outhouses!!!! Hotel booked several months ago, so when rang to confirm person on phone seemed very vague about our reservation had to be reminded had booked 2 nights not one... we were shown to a building on the opposite side of the car park which was made up of single room flats. Bed was comfortable but basic with white duvet and 2 pillows each, and towels provided. no extra bedding. The room was reasonably clean but the shower was broken and the kettle kept switching itself on. The shower next door was very noisy too. One of the cups was also chipped. Although there was a wardrobe and bed side cabinets, the room was too small for a chair so had to sit on bed. Tv only had few select channels to watch. Meals in the restaurant were good and the staff were very friendly but they did make a few mistakes such as serving meals to the wrong guests and kept waiting for the vegetables after the main meal was served. .

Room Tip: make sure your not in the annex when booking!!!!!1

We stayed two nights, some one on trip advisor had mentioned a special meal deal. We were told that was only Monday to Friday, not week ends. The breakfast was strange, continental, fruit, juice, cereal, and toast. Then the cooked breakfast. We could have either or the two by adding £2 to our bill. I don't know about anyone else, but I usually have cereal for breakfast, not as an add on.
We did have a meal in the restaurant, which was OK but nothing special. My husband had the chefs pie, no gravy and the veg came when he was half way through the meal. The room was really nice but the curtains were pinned up with safety pins
There was no info in the room as to when the meals were or to what was going on in the area.
Breakfast was at 8.30 in the morning but the door was locked to the dining room and did not open till after 8.35, not acceptable to have people waiting in the lobby for breakfast. We had a cooked breakfast on the first morning, no sausage.

Still cannot get over being asked for £2 to have a cooked a breakfast and continental breakfast.

Room Tip: this hotel is in an ideal place for travelling around Ludlow, Leominster and Bridge North.

Our two night break taken last September was awful. The room in the cottage was dirty, a bare light bulb and a few twisted metal hangers behind a drab curtain. No waste bin in the bedroom. Towels and bedding were clean thank goodness. My main criticism was the number of flies in the bedroom in the restaurant and grounds. At mealtimes these were feeding happily on the crumbs left on the windowsills. Outside a wooden table was left uncleared the whole time. No outside bins, when we asked where we could put some rubbish we were directed to the kitchen bins. One week after our visit I spent a whole month in hospital and am still recovering, whether I caught this uncommon infection at the hotel I will never know.

Stayed on a Wowcher deal. I don't usually put negative reviews on this site, but this was such a poor experience that we left one night early, I can echo some of the things already written about and add a few more. The room was freezing cold with a broken heater which I asked nicely to be rectified. No luck. The room was not cleaned on the first morning of our stay, only the duvet cover roughly pulled up. Bin not emptied. The evening meal was mediocre but I did get a starter and sweet as my 2 courses which was good of them. Continental breakfast poor and the croissant was hard and chewy. Breakfast on the second day was diabolical. Full English was cold and tasteless when it finall arrived.Had to ask for pot of tea after waiting 15 mins, no bowls for ceral, milk and juice had run out, again had to ask. The dining room was not full and we were not late. 3 staff on who did nothing about clearing tables etc. The filter coffee was awful, really weak so I asked politely for some stronger, member of staff just shrugged shoulders. Used coffee sachets from the room to pep it up. Others found the same but said nothing.
On the whole, the staff are indifferent , sloppy and poorly trained. I fear that nothing will change though!
