Having discovered this welcoming pub as it was marked as "dog friendly" (nearly missed it as roadside bar sign is a large "KA" and we were looking for a traditional KINGS ARMS pub name board) earlier in the week during our recent stay in the area, we just had to return for Sunday Lunch before we returned to Cumbria. What a great pub meal, a real treat for us. It was one of the best roasts we could ever recall having. The portions are generous and the meat and vegetables tasty and very well cooked. The service is attentive, friendly, but not pushy. Delightful range of good local (Hobsons) real ales and ciders. We sat inside with our well behaved dog but saw there is also a good patio area for alfresco dining and drinking. We have to recommend the food (and beer) in this pub and hope to return when we can. The value for money of both drinks (under £3 a pint) and of the good selection of food is also to be commended. The only (slight) disappointment for us was the poor choice (only two) of desserts. The apple pie had cinnamon and currants? in it which wasn't mentioned in the description so I had to leave it - but I realise this would be fine for some other people. Apart from the pudding by far the best pub we have been in this year, and certainly the best pub grub we've had for several years. Well done all at the Kings Arms! Thank you.
