“Not Great!”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

Nice village location, but the resturant part of the pub is very modern and bland, feels like a Haven or Butlins resturant.
Waitress was lacking in any charm and seemed quite surly, Menu poor mans Gastro pub. My wife and didn't want Lasange or Fish Pie as we feared they would be Microwaved, others in our party did have these and we were proved right.
We therefore opted for Shropshire Rarebit with Poached Egg, what a disappointment that was, two slices of cheap bread, not much Rarebit and fried eggs on top, certainly not Poached and all this for £11 a pop!, save your money and go somewhere else, even if you enjoy bland food, the staff just don't seem to care if you go back or not.

“A Gem in the Blue Remebered Hills”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

Although traditionally a local pub and perhaps not too appropriately extended, we still loved it and it definitely felt like a local pub

The food and the prices were just right

We did not want haute cuisine but we got much better than basic at a sensible and reasonable price..

The beer from the adjoining brewery was good, the wine excellent and the service very friendly and efficient.

We went twice and will decidedly return when next we visit the area.

“Superb Restaurant”
Reviewed 13 January 2014

One of the best pubs I have visited . Very much on the up, it offers first rate pub cuisine at very fair prices. George, Katie and Chef/ proprietor Ray all contribute to a first rate experience

“Superb inn fast improving”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

Sunday lunch was first rate. Ray Hall has steadily blossomed in this modern fresh inn. With a top notch team, pleasant and efficient lead by George, the cuisine is very good indeed. Freshly cooked and well presented the meal was faultless. The sirloin was of excellent quality, the vegetables perfectly cooked complemented by a great atmosphere. To be recommended .

“Great Team, Great Food, Famous Locally”
Reviewed 15 December 2013 via mobile

Went for a special family dinner today and we had Christmas lunch. Soup was very nice. It was served with fresh baked bread. My starter was the chicken liver pate. It was everything that you would expect. My grandad had the garlic mushroom which were made just right. Herby and nicely balanced with the garlic source.

The signature element of the Christmas lunch for me was the stuffing which was made with pine nuts and raisins. It was different and offered a contemporary touch to a traditional Christmas meal. If you have sweet tooth opt for the white chocolate cheese cake. To be honest all the desert would satisfy the fussiest eater so go on and spoil yourself this Christmas.
We have been before and would return again and again. It's clear that the chef has a passion for cooking excellent British food using top-quality ingredients. Well done all keep the good work.
