“What a find!”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

Recently four of us visited The Plough for the first time and we were all very impressed. The modern dining room is a very impressive space with a high ceiling and attractive windows, beautiful curtains and ample room between the tables. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and made us feel really welcome. My cousin is a vegetarian and at a lot of pubs the menu gives her little choice, but here she had a wonderful selection of dishes to choose from. We both liked the sound of asparagus, brie, roasted peppers and sweet potato turnover and so we chose that and it was outstanding, the blend of flavours was delicious. Our husbands had duck, and hake, and they were equally impressed. There was a lovely choice of puddings, and three of us had an incredible white chocolate cheesecake with an amaretto glaze, served with a scoop of caramel ice cream, fabulous. We were all so impressed with the food and ambiance, we can't wait to go again.

“Great food, great service, great welcome”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

The Plough in Wistanstow is not what you'd expect from the outside or the car park. The car park is large and I can't see there would ever be a problem finding a parking space. On entering the pub, you have the choice of the old traditional bar to the left, and to the right a modern light oak bar and a spacious modern restaurant. The staff were young, to us oldies, but they were friendly and attentive. Drinks were served and taken to our table, where our order efficiently taken. The beef and ale pie, with chips and vegetables quickly arrived and all was delicious. The puff pastry top was crisp and the meat was beautifully tender. We returned the next day for a drink whilst out walking and intend to return Sunday evening ... enough said !! Note:- POST CODE ON TRIP ADVISOR IS CORRECT BUT IT IS WISTANSTOW NOT WINSTANSTOW.

“Evening meal”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

Had evening meal here the other night. The service was not good, we were not made to feel very welcome. Normally you are asked if all is fine with your meals, which we were not. Had to ask to see the sweet menu. It's a shame has the dining area is a very nice. and relaxing.

“DISAPPOINTING”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

Had dinner at this place recently. It was busy so obviously lots of local people are satisfied with the food! We had roast beef which had a very strange taste to it and did not look as though it had just been sliced from a roast. The vegetables were just plain boiled things all put together in a bowl, no taste and incredibly boring - don't go out to eat and have plain, boring, boiled vegetables without much flavour.
Only saving grace was the sticky date pudding which was good, light and tasty. Just need to get some good savoury cooking on board.
