Memory plays tricks, but I think that this was our fifth visit to this hotel and once again it did not disappoint. As ever, the staff were cheerful and welcoming, the quality of the food splendid, and the room in the coach house comfortable with beautiful views. Although it is a little pricey (especially drinks) we feel that it is worth returning to because we always find it such a relaxing place to stay, and in such stunning countryside. The choice of walks from the hotel is a major attraction.
This time we also took advantage of an offer to stay a night at their other hotel - the Castle in Bishopscastle - still a "work in progress" and a pub with rooms rather than a country hotel, but nonetheless comfortable and with good food. We will certainly return to both.

We have visited this hotel on a number of occasions and are never disappointed.
The experience always starts with a friendly welcome from one of the young managers, what an asset they are to the business.
Yet again we could relax and enjoy the wonderful views, great food, and exemplary service.
Whatever the season there is something to enjoy.

We had a very relaxing stay, welcomed with tea and scones, we found our room had been upgraded. It was a very spacious comfortable room, with attention to detail and a view of the attractive gardens. carpeted with snowdrops.
Dinner was excellent, with an imaginative menu, well cooked food and attentive staff.

We have stayed here on and off for several years and have enjoyed relaxing and comfortable breaks. Located in a small village there are many attractions and good walks within striking distance. It is good to return after a day's activity to enjoy a drink before a roaring fire and enjoy good conversation with other residents. The menus are unfailingly interesting and the food beautifully cooked and presented. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms quiet.

Lovely location away from anywhere with lovely views. We stayed in the pink room which was nice- comfortable but in the need for a little sprucing up. We had a package deal which included afternoon tea upon arrival, dinner, champagne and b&b. When we arrived we were greeted by the lovely members of staff who were very helpful and polite. We had a lovely afternoon tea with scones and jam down in the lounge.
The food in the evening was fantastic- I am a vegetarian and a picky eater but didnt find ordering an issue- also were very accomodating to any changes you may want with your meal.
Each course was very good! And there was more than enough to fill you up!
We were definatly the youngest couple there, I am in my mid twenties and my partner in his thirties but we didnt feel out of place or that we were treated any differently.
Breakfast was also very good- cereal and fruit, toast and tea/coffe followed by a choice of hot food- they even had vegetarian sausage and bacon!

Overall we had a great stay- great venue and food. Not a cheap option- bar charges and tea/coffee after dinner are pricey, but compared to other places I have stayed at similar prices it is much better quality.

Second visit to this hotel as we like hill walking and were very impressed with the food first time round. Hotel didn't disappoint. It's on the Welsh border in good walking country - not as popular or well known as the Ludlow area, but probably prettier. The hotel produces printed walks starting from the hotel and we like a pub stop halfway round. (Not as young as we used to be). We used to go to the lakes but can’t manage the big fells anymore, whereas round Pen-y-Dyffryn it’s a bit like Postman Pat country, lots of little hills that we can still get to the top of.
They do tea and cake when you get back in but we waited for the evening meal most days which is as good as we have had anywhere. My son and his partner have also been here on our recommendation, and they liked it too. Will be back.
