Me and my husband stayed here for 2 nights for my nieces wedding. and what a beautiful place. we was with mum and dad, and was meeting up with my nephew and his family. The young lad that greeted us was on his own and it seemed that he was running the bar as well. we were given the master key to room 1 as he couldn't find it, and gave mum her key to her room (10). took mum and dad to there room and it was lovely very modern. went to our room (1) opened the door and there was already a couple in there, to say the least i nearly had a heart attack!! we apologised and left. went back to reception and asked the lad if we could have our room! room (5). and its was a lovely room and a lovely view. When we met up with the nephew we went and have a look around each others rooms, they were in the family room, with 2 large bedrooms, a large bathroom with a shower and a double ended bath, and a separate wash room. All the rooms are lovely and beside that hick up when checking in, the service was brilliant. And a beautiful setting for a wedding, all the staff worked so hard to make my nices wedding go with out any problems, and the food was amazing. Thank you.

Thank you for the feed back it is very much appreciated. The mix up with the room was an easy one as all the wedding rooms were booked by the bride and groom in the same name but glad it all ended well.We hope you will visit us in the future.

Both my husband & myself stayed at the Sweeny for my best friends wedding. When we first arrived which was only two hours before the actual wedding our room was no where near ready it had not been cleaned from the previous guests. When we finally got into the room which was only 45 minutes before the wedding we were really pleased with the room although the curtains were hanging off the rail as the previous people had pulled them off the night before, which were put back on whilst we were at the wedding. The room was lovely & clean the bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in & the bedding was crisp & clean, also the size of the bed was huge making it a wonderful nights sleep. The carpet was so thick you almost lost your feet.
Breakfast was lovely plenty of choice & we were well looked after, all in all we had a lovely stay & we would certainly not hesitate staying again.

Room Tip: Room 9 bed extremely comfortable

I was one of the group staying regularly referred to in the review "Home away from home" and I agree with the comments. Staying in a corporate chain hotel over such a long period would have been dispiriting and we were fortunate to find Sweeney Hall to use as a base. Not only was it excellent value, which was important as we were on a tight budget, but the kitchen provided a varied and changing menu of dishes all cooked to order and including lighter options. The chicken Caesar salad, the steak and kidney pies and the pudding menu deserve special mention! The rooms were all comfortable and clean and there was an element of quirkiness in the décor which was frankly welcome to us as regular repeat visitors. Although this is a "country house" hotel in a very pretty location, they were able to provide us with meeting rooms and wi fi which were ideal for our needs. As mentioned, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and we felt we were saying goodbye to friends when our business was over.

A group of us have stayed at Sweeney Hall for work purposes on and off for the last year. It has been a most comfortable, pleasant and enjoyable experience. Nothing has been too much trouble for the staff, who we have all come to know very well. The food has been excellent, and we could not have been better looked after. Thanks Sweeney Hall for being our home away from home.

Room Tip: They are all well appointed

Stayed as part of a wedding party. Staff very welcoming and attentive, resolved minor issues quickly. Nothing was too much trouble for the team of mostly teenager/young adult staff members. If this is a sign of the future of the hospitality industry then I have faith again in the UK as a tourist destination. I suspect a large part of the credit goes to the managers, who are both approachable and efficient.
We stayed in the small annex (cottage) which as two spacious bedrooms (sharing loo and bath), full kitchen and a warm and cozy living room. This was excellent indeed, once we figured out the three different pull switches in the bathroom. Woke to the distant sounds of wrens, swallows, jackdaws and sheep - a more perfect mixture would be hard to find. true countryside.

Breakfast was served on demand and a great choice of both continental and traditional cooked food was available. Evening meal was quite adventurous for a "country" establishment and as evidenced by the number of local residents choosing to dine here, the evening menu offers much more than pub grub. Steaks were prepared to perfection, duck confit top quality. Dessert was only point we disagreed, I loved the raspberry and cardamon creme brule, others did not. There is a small cozy bar that is well stocked and the wine list is good value with a few nice touches. In summer I think dining on the patio with a view over the gardens would be a most romantic occasion. I would stay here again in an instant, next time to walk the countryside. Saw seven Buzzards from the front porch, a good indicator of a healthy natural world I look forward to exploring in the future.

Stayed for one night on return journey from Snowdonia, large comfortable room. Evening meal with friends acceptable, very laid back and friendly staff, food acceptable. Well looked after in the morning over breakfast, tasty and more than acceptable. Very quiet and pretty location well worth a night or more stay. If required has a large conference room with excellent views of the countryside.
