“Best B&B we've stayed at”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2011

Not only was the room fabulous (and large), Cameron & Magy are great hosts and the food was some of the best we've had. We thoroughly recommend Greystones and can't wait to return.

Had a lovely relaxing break at this gem of a bb .Our room was large and comfortable with views out to the pretty gardens. Our hosts were very weloming and made us feel very at home and the food was fantastic cordon bleu infact and with many options including some very tasty vegetarian dishes. The location is also on the border of north Wales and Snowdonia national park is close to hand as well as the steam railway at Llangollen and the breathtaking lake Vyrnwy and dam.

My wife and I were looking for a quiet B&B that would serve as a "base camp" for our vacation to North Wales and the central part of the England. We sure picked the right B&B. The service and amenities far exceeded our expectations.

Service was second to none, beginning with the booking process. We looked into many B&B's, half of which never returned phone calls or e-mail inquiries. Hard to believe in today's economy. Cameron and Magy were extremely responsive, making sure we were satisfied with the booking process, providing suggestions on sites we were considering visiting and making sure that our meal preparations met our needs.

We arrived a little early as we had run into problems with directions to other B&B's. However, the directions we were provided to Greystones were easy to follow and we ended up at the doorstep more than an hour early. Despite the early arrival, we were greeted with a big smile, a helping hand and were made to feel at home before even entering.

The grounds are well maintained with colorful flowers, fruit trees, expansive lawn and the list goes on. The house is very well maintained and our room (Mapleleaf) was spacious, comfortable, quiet and furnished with more amenities than we can remember (tons of books to read, fine artwork throughout, television, stereo, expresso machine, coffee machine, cooler, candies, fruit, drinks, and much more) . The only problem with the room is it sits above the kitchen and all the wonderful smells from the food Cameron prepares lofts up through the window. It will make your mouth water, even if you thought you were not hungry.

Speaking of food, everything is gourmet. The table settings are spectacular. Breakfast is filling, nutricious, and presented artistically. Make sure you enjoy a dinner with your stay. You definitiely won't regret it.

If the above wasn't enough, we were treated like family and felt like we had been old friends for many years. We were fortunate enough to be visiting when some of Cameron and Magy's family and friends were in town and enjoyed an evening of laughing, story telling and musical entertainment.

Greystones was the third B&B we stayed out, in addition to two other hotels (one being very highly rated) and none of those other stays came even close to the experience we had with Cameron and Magy. We definitely got more than our money's worth.

You may wonder if Greystones can be as good as it sounds in the other reviews. It's actually a million percent better ! The rooms are superb, the food exceptional and the hospitality beyond compare. The house is a treasure-trove of memorabiia from around the world - it's beautifully decorated and has the charm of a much-loved and very tasteful family home. Cameron and Magy are welcoming hosts that attend to every detail and exceed expectations. The rooms are comfortable, quiet and spacious. The lounge is relaxing, with the comfiest sofas and the most interesting of coffee-table books. Everything is thought of - CD players, DVDs, WifFi, books, complimentary drinks etc. The food is stunning - vintage cheese souffles, roast duck, welsh lamb, fresh fish - cooked and presented immaculately and the taste is superb. We're no strangers to some very good London restaurants, but the food at Greystones matches and exceeds some of the best.
Greystones is convenient for Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire - for our stay we were interested in walking in Snowdonia, the Llangollen aqueduct and Stiperstones in Shropshire. If we had wanted to the delights of the shops and history of Chester, Ludlow and Welshpool these are equally convenient. We felt at home there and completely relaxed. Our only problem was that we had to leave at the end of our stay ! Good luck to Magy and Cameron - we hope to see them again soon !

Room Tip: The Fountain suite was great for myself, wife and daughter

Cameron and Magy make great hosts and Cameron's food is superb. Nice touches such as soft bath robes and sherry and port on the house make this place special.

....... then Greystones would be it." Very difficult to add to the superlatives already given here other than to testify to their accuracy, and say a big thankyou to Cameron and Magy for their warmth and hospitality, which really made our weekend. Cameron is a very talented chef who went out of his way to make sure my 'fussy' partner was catered for with the most wonderful meal we've had in a long time.

Quiet location, fantastic accommodation, wonderful hosts (inc zac), food to die for, and really nice other quests (you have to be discerning to come here you see!).

We'll most definitely be back, and hopefully for the rumoured cooking courses with Cameron and Magy's son Alex in January.

Cameron and Magy Beard are to be congratulated on their wonderful bed and breakfast home, quietly situated in the lovely countryside around Oswestry. We were made to feel so welcome and immediately at home by Cameron on our arrival. Indeed we were greeted like long lost friends although we'd never met before! Exploration of our bedroom suites, a name which hardly does justice to the accommodation, revealed a depth of character and quirkiness in the wonderful pictures and ornaments. My favourite was the painting of Elvis Presley. Then a stroll around the two acres of beautiful gardens, a game of football on the lawn followed by an elicit cuddle with "Trinny and Susanna". To understand this you have to visit Greystones yourself!

After enjoying drinks in the most comfortable lounge, we were then treated to a marvellous dinner, cooked by Cameron and served by his "waitress", Magy - his delightful wife. An excellent night's sleep was followed by a sumptuous breakfast, indeed if one had eated everything on offer one would not have been able to move from the table!

Finally, we managed to wrench ourselves away but not before Cameron had bid us a most fond farewell. We managed to leave a memento of our visit in the form of a shirt and pair of jeans but Cameron, being the man he is, resisted the temptation to keep them and most kindly asked Magy to return them to us safely.

Just bewitching !!
